    American Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport

    American Airlines flight AA-1803 had to make an emergency landing at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, Texas, on May 17th.

    The Airbus A321-200 plane heading from San Francisco, California, to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, was diverted due to issues with the weather radar and navigation systems.

    The plane landed uneventfully. Everyone aboard remained safe.

    Semi Hits Chopper

    An unmanned CEMIG Helibras HB-350B Esquilo (Eurocopter Ecureuil) in Celso Buelo Brazil was parked with its pilot nearby when the helicopter was struck by an articulated semi that was rolling on its own. The truck driver had forgotten to apply the brakes.

    The helicopter sustained damage in the horizontal stabilizer and tail cone.

    Both the helicopter and the semi had been parked, and neither had a driver aboard at the time of the collision.

    Air France Bomb Threat on Rio/Paris Flight

    What: Air France Boeing 747-400 en route from Rio de Janeiro to Paris
    Where: Atlantic
    When: July 10, 2010
    Who: 405 passengers and 18 crew
    Why: While en route, the crew was radioed that a woman had called Galeao Antonio Carlos Jobim International Airport with information about a bomb aboard the flight. The flight diverted to Recife Brazil and made an emergency landing. Passengers immediately disembarked and were searched. The plane and baggage were inspected for bombs and explosives. Nothing was found.

    The airline reports that they will provide hotel accommodations for passengers. When (if) the plane is cleared, it will be allowed to continue.

    The Air France Flight 447 designation has been suspended since the Air France Airbus crashed on June 1 2009. This flight was designated AF 443.

    Crash in Brazil Totals Ultralight


    On January 2, 2013, a Condor MB ultralight was over rural Luziânia Brazil when the engine shut down.

    The ultralight crashed in a forest and was damaged beyond repair.

    Pilot Alberto Rossi Junior, and his son Lucas Ferreira Rossi, survived, and were taken to a Brasilia hospital.

    Military police and the Fire Department respnded to the scene. The paperwork of the pilot and the plane is reported to be up to date.

    DVT Fatality on Rio Flight

    What: TAM Linhas Aereas Airbus A330-200 en route from New York JFK to Rio de Janeiro
    Where: Rio de Janeiro
    When: Oct 23/24th 2009
    Why: On approach to Rio, a passenger began feeling unwell. On debarking, she passed out in the jet bridge. By the time the ambulance arrived 25 minutes later, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

    Doctors say that she suffered “economy class syndrome”, actually known as Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT), an event which creates blood clots in the lower veins of the legs.

    A substantial amount of money and several credit cards disappeared the passenger’s purse, according to relatives.

    Azul Linhas Aereas Plane makes Safe Landing in Brazil after Smoke in Cabin

    Azul Linhas Aereas flight AD-4966 made a safe emergency landing at Aeroporto de Uberlândia – Tenente Coronel Aviador César Bombonato, Brazil, on May 9th.

    The Avions de Transport Regional ATR-72-212A flying from Sao Paulo, Brazil, was about to reach the destination when crew noticed smoke in its cabin.

    The plane landed safely.

    No injuries were reported.
