    Brussels Airlines Plane Diverts to France due to Odour in Cockpit

    Brussels Airlines flight SN-3765 had to divert and make an emergency landing at Toulouse–Blagnac Airport, France, on July 13th.

    The Airbus A319-100 flying from Brussels, Belgium, to Palma Mallorca, Spain, had to divert due to an unusual odour in its cockpit.

    The plane landed safely.

    All 140 people aboard remained safe.

    Air New Zealand Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Christchurch

    Air New Zealand flight NZ-621 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Christchurch, New Zealand, on May 20th.

    The Airbus A320-200 plane heading from Auckland to Queenstown, New Zealand, was diverted after it suffered a lightning strike.

    The plane landed uneventfully. Everyone aboard remained safe.

    Air France Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Rio de Janeiro

    Air France flight AF-443 had to return and make an emergency landing in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on April 14th.

    The Boeing 777-300 plane took off for Charles de Gaulle Airport, France, but had to turn back after the crew reported issues with the weather radar.

    The plane landed uneventfully. All passengers and crew members remained safe.

    Arkansas: Cessna Crash


    What: Cessna 177RG registered to Jerry L. Smith of Willow Springs, Mo.
    Where: Rich Mountain in rural Polk County near Queen Wilhelmina State Park, western Arkansas
    When: 2 p.m.
    Who: Jerry L. Smith
    Why: The aircraft appeared to have clipped some trees before plummeting into the right-of-way off Arkansas 88. Someone driving by saw the wreckage around 2:15 p.m. and called it in. The pilot died in the crash

    Prague-Bound Aer Lingus Plane Suffers Lightning Strike

    Aer Lingus flight EI-644 suffered a lightning strike near Prague, Czech Republic, on October 29th.

    The incident happened when the Airbus A320-200 plane flying from Dublin, Ireland, was on approach to Vaclav Havel Airport Prague.

    The plane continued for a safe landing. All passengers and crew members remained uninjured.

    Sedona Breakfast Flight Ends in Tragedy

    What: Chopper II LLC Aérospatiale AS 350B Astar en route from from Sedona to Scottsdale.
    Where: Sedona AZ
    When: June 30, 2012
    Who: 4 aboard, 4 fatalities
    Why: A Aérospatiale AS 350B Astar, N729DP that was reported overdue on Saturday was found by a private pilot at 8:45 a..m. Sunday crashed into the Verde river south of Camp Verde, Arizona. According to FAA reports, “THE 4 PERSONS ON BOARD WERE FATALLY INJURED.”

    The wreckage was consistent with a pilot flying at low speed and low altitude.

    The remains were found of the pilot, 70-year-old Raymond Perry of Phoenix, 68-year-old passenger Karen Stinn of Cave Creek and 63-year-old Mike Dunaway and 64-year-old Linda Dunaway of Glendale. They were taken to Yavapai County Medical Examiner’s Office. Perry is the CEO of the Arriba Mexican Grill restaurant chain.

    A helicopter mechanic reported that it looked as if the chopper nose-dived and the blades from the chopper and the transmission tore through the main cabin where the pilot and passengers were sitting. Wind may have factored in. The helicopter was found in the Verde river.
