    GoAir Flight Returns to Delhi After Bird Strike

    GoAir flight G8-338 made an emergency landing in Delhi, India, on June 21st.

    The Airbus A320-200 plane took off for Mumbai, India, but had to turn back due to a bird strike.

    The plane landed uneventfully. All one hundred and fifty-five passengers aboard remained safe.

    The airline arranged a replacement plane for the passengers.

    British Airways Flight Makes Emergency Landing at London Heathrow

    britishairwaysBritish Airways flight BA 676, on its way to Istanbul, Turkey, had to return and make an emergency landing at Heathrow Airport, London, shortly after it took off at about 11 a.m. on July 3.

    The decision to make an emergency landing was made after the crew reported a ‘burning smell’ in the cockpit of the Boeing 767-300. A hundred eighty-five passengers were aboard.

    Metropolitan Police Service and fire fighters were on alert when the plane landed back at the airport, just 35 minutes after it departed. No one was injured.

    The airline confirmed that the plane experienced a minor technical problem which is being resolved and it will soon return to service.

    China Southern Airlines Plane Diverts to Beijing due to Medical Emergency

    China SouthernChina Southern Airlines flight CZ6316, had to make an emergency landing at Beijing Capital International Airport in China, on April 14.

    The flight was heading from Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province to Shenyang, Liaoning Province, when a passenger, Li, started convulsing and vomiting. The pilot informed the authorities and requested an emergency landing in Beijing.

    The plane landed safely after which, Li was immediately shifted to hospital.

    The flight resumed shortly afterwards.

    Cessna in the Drink in Roanoke

    What: Colnan Inc. Cessna 550 Citation II
    Where: Manteo-Dare County Regional Airport, NC
    When: Oct 1 2010 8:30 am
    Who: 2 crew 5 passengers
    Why: The plane flew successfully from Tampa to Manteo, but on landing, was too fast to stop on the rain-slick runway, but overran the end into the Croatan Sound off of Roanoke Island.

    Dare County Regional Airport staff rescued all passengers and crew from the sound. No fatalities. The plane has been recovered, but as you see on the video, is probably a total loss.

    United Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Seattle

    United Airlines flight UA-812 made an emergency landing in Seattle, Washington, on January 11th.

    The Airbus A320-200 plane heading from Spokane, Washington, to Denver, Colorado, was diverted due to a bird strike.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Revamped Airtrans Jets go to Southwest to Delta

    Delta Airlines is going to lease 88 former AirTran Airways Boeing 717 jets from Southwest Airlines. SW took over AirTran Airways in 2011.

    These planes are about to undergo a $100 million face lift. Southwest plans to replace the jets with bigger ones. The changes include the outdoor livery, and revamping the interiors.

    The jets will allow Delta to retire 50-seat regional jets which are unprofitable due to fuel costs.
