    Air Ambulance Crash Off Florida Coast


    On November 19, 2013, a Jet Rescue Air Ambulance Lear Jet 35A was en route from Hollywood Int’l Airport in Fort Lauderdale to Cozumel International Airport when the plane crashed in coastal waters three miles from Fort Lauderdale. The last contact with ATC was at 8:20. The pilots reported mechanical problems after takeoff: a May Day. He was in trouble and asked for permission to return to the runway. He was going to make a 180-degree turn and return to the airport.

    Skies were clear.

    There were four people aboard at the time—the two aforementioned pilots and two passengers—a doctor and nurse named as Fernando Senties Nieto and Mariana González Isunza. The flight had just dropped off a patient in Broward County.

    The bodies of a man and woman have been found. Command central was set up at a city marine on Southeast 15th.

    The search is ongoing.

    Fifty people and nine vessels involved in the search include a Miami Coast guard helicopter, two coast guard cutters, two small boats, three florida Fish and Wildlife conservation crew, and a Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue boat.

    Small Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Duplin County

    emergencyA small plane made an emergency landing on Highway 11 near Garland King Road in Duplin County, North Carolina, on December 21.

    The pilot Richard Kenny said he was forced to land on the highway after his plane ran out of fuel. He was heading from Long Island, New York, to Orlando, Florida, at the time.

    The plane hit a highway sign while landing. No injuries were reported.

    Macedonian Prime Minister’s Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Zurich

    A Learjet 60 plane, carrying Macedonian Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski, made an emergency landing in Zurich, Switzerland, on May 21.

    Prime Minister Gruevski was returning to Skopje from Strasbourg when his jet had to make an emergency landing due to technical issues. According to a government spokesperson, “The (technical) failure manifested as a strong noise, from an unknown origin, and it was followed by perturbation of the cabin pressure,”

    The plane landed uneventfully. Everyone aboard remained unhurt.

    United Airlines Plane Returns to Shannon Airport

    HT_United_Airlines1_MEM_151006_12x5_1600United Airlines flight UA-67 had to return and make an emergency landing at Shannon Airport, Ireland, on May 27th.

    The Boeing 757-200 took off for Chicago, Illinois, but had to return shortly afterwards due to an engine issue.

    The plane landed uneventfully. All 108 passengers and 9 crew members remained unhurt.

    CommutAir Plane Returns to Virginia after Aileron Issue

    CommutAirCommutAir flight C5-2672/UA-2672 had to return and make an emergency landing at Washington Dulles International Airport, Virginia, on April 7th.

    The De Havilland Dash 8-200, en-route from Virginia to New York, had just climbed out of Washington Dulles’s runway when it experienced aileron mistrim, prompting the crew to return.

    The plane landed uneventfully.

    All passengers onboard remained unhurt.

    The passengers were accommodated in a replacement plane.

    KLM Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Amsterdam

    KLM flight KL-891 had to return and make an emergency landing in Amsterdam, Netherlands, on December 10th.

    The Boeing 787-900 plane took off for Chengdu, China, but had to turn back after one of the engines stalled.

    The plane landed back safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.
