    Naval Helicopter Returns to Newquay Airport due to Engine Issue

    A British International Helicopter (BIH) Dauphin helicopter had to return and make an emergency landing at Newquay Cornwall Airport, United Kingdom, on December 15.

    Authorities said the Eurocopter AS 365N2 Dauphin, based in HMS Drake, Devonport, had to declare an emergency after it developed an engine issue.

    According to an airport spokesperson, “We can confirm that an AS65 helicopter with two persons on board made a precautionary return to Cornwall Airport Newquay at approximately 0930 this morning having experienced an issue with one of its engines. The aircraft landed without problem.”

    Bird-Hit Egyptair Plane Makes Emergency Landing at Heathrow Airport

    EgyptAirEgyptair flight MS-779 had to make an emergency landing at Heathrow Airport in London, United Kingdom, on March 11th.

    The Boeing 737-800 plane was on approach to the airport when a bird penetrated its nose, prompting the crew to declare an emergency. The plane was flying from Cairo, Egypt, at the time.

    The plane landed uneventfully. There were 71 passengers aboard at the time; all of the remained safe.

    Delta: Part Rains On Long Island

    What: Delta Airlines Boeing 777-200 en route from New York JFK, NY to Tokyo Japan,
    Where: New York
    When: Nov 5th 2009
    Who: not available
    Why: While en route, the plane dropped parts, although arriving safely in Japan.

    Investigation proved the part to be an engine exhaust cone lost in Long Island during departure. The purpose of the engine exhaust cone is to eliminate the “vortex of the exhaust stream, optimizing the airflow and improving engine efficiency”

    Egyptian overrun

    June 15, 2013
    A six year old Boeing 373-86N # SU-BPZ leased from an Egyptian company was providing flight 921 en route from Novosibirsk Russia to Thessaloniki Greece when it skidded off the runway.

    The plane stopped past the end of pavement. There were 160 aboard, including 5 crew, none of whom were injured.

    The cause of the incident has not been released.

    Oman Air Flight Diverts to Istanbul due to Cracked Windshield

    Oman Air flight WY-105 made an emergency landing in Istanbul, Turkey, on January 10th.

    The Boeing 787-8 plane heading from Muscat, Oman, to Manchester, England, was diverted due to a cracked windshield.

    The plane landed uneventfully. All one hundred and twenty-four passengers aboard remained safe.

    Norwegian Air Flight Diverts to Minnesota due to Unruly Passenger

    Norwegian Air flight DY-7080 made an emergency landing at Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport, Minnesota, on December 5th.

    The plane heading from Oakland, California, to Charles de Gaulle Airport, France, was diverted due to an unruly passenger.

    The plane landed safely.

    The flight continued after the police escorted the disruptive passenger off the plane. He was taken to a local hospital.
