    TAM Crash Families File Suit in Florida

    ACCIDENT: Attorneys for the families of passengers killed on TAM Linhas Aereas Flight 3054 filed 58 wrongful death lawsuits in Florida last week. The 17 July 2007 crash, the worst in Brazil’s history, killed 187 on board and 12 people on the ground when an A320 attempted a go-around at Sao Paolo’s Congonhas airport and slammed into a building just past the runway end. The investigation in part is focusing on whether the pilots mishandled landing operations in light of a known inoperative thrust reverser. Parties named in the lawsuits include TAM, leasing company Pegasus Aviation, Airbus, Airbus Customer Services, thrust-reverser provider Goodrich and International Aero Engines.

    Kuwait Airways Flight Makes Emergency Landing in India

    Kuwait airwaysKuwait Airways flight KU-351 made an emergency landing in Kochi, Kerala, India, on June 10th.

    The Airbus A340-300 plane was flying from Kuwait when it experienced a hydraulic failure, prompting the crew to declare an emergency.

    The plane landed uneventfully. There were 225 people aboard at the time; all of them remained unharmed.

    British Airways Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Amsterdam

    British Airways flight BA-438 made an emergency landing in Amsterdam, Netherlands, on April 14th.

    The Airbus A321-200 plane flying from Heathrow Airport, England, was on final approach to Amsterdam when the crew reported a nose gear steering issue and went around.

    The plane subsequently landed uneventfully and was towed to the apron.

    Everyone aboard remained safe.

    Two French Army Helicopters Collide in Mid-Air: Five Killed

    Two French army training helicopters collided in mid-air between the towns of Cabasse and Carces in southern France, on February 2nd.

    According to the police, “The helicopters collided. There were three army personnel in one and two in the other. All are dead.”

    The cause of crash is being investigated.

    Jet2.com Flight Returns to Manchester due to Flaps Problem

    Jet2Jet2.com flight LS-891 made an emergency landing in Manchester, England, on October 6th.

    The plane took off for Lanzarote, Spain, but had to return shortly afterwards after the crew reported a flaps issue.

    The plane landed safely. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

    The airline arranged a replacement plane for the passengers.

    Swiss Global Air Lines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Zurich

    Swiss Global Air Lines flight LX-464 had to return and make an emergency landing in Zurich, Switzerland, on January 15th.

    The plane took off for London City Airport, England, but had to turn back due to the failure of one of the elevators.

    The plane landed back safely. All thirty-six passengers aboard remained unharmed.
