Why: James Bartley Jr.; his wife, Terry Bartley; and their youngest daughter, Caroline Bartley died when their plane broke apart in the air over Mississippi. The wreckage is described as burned and crumpled and may have fallen from an altitude of 8000 feet.Rescue teams responded on foot, four-wheelers and horseback.
The debris field was spread over half of a mile n a field near County Road 4111 in New Site, Mississippi; the fuselage was found by a medical helicopter.

Beechcraft Musketeer Airplane Crash-Landed at Long Beach Airport
A Beechcraft C23 Musketeer airplane crash-landed at Long Beach Airport in California, on the night of June 18.
Authorities said the plane was attempting to land at the runway but rammed into a perimeter fence just before touching the approach end.
The pilot, who was the only one aboard, sustained minor injuries and was taken to hospital.
The NTSB and the FAA are investigating the cause of crash.
Six Fatalities in Guatemalan Crash

Why: The crash destroyed a home, and parts of the wreckage also ended up in a swimming pool. The cause of the crash is under investigation but bad weather is thought to be responsible. The pilot was attempting a turn when he crashed at 15th Avenue and 20th Street area near the 13th Air Force. The plane fell on house 20-21.Four people inside the house were shocked by the noise, but no one was hurt.

Bird Strike/Jet Collision at Airshow Leaves 2 Pilots Dead

Why: During an air show in Poland, two jets collided. Neither pilot had the time to eject; so far the remains of only one have been found. The cause has been attributed to a bird flying into the engine of one of the jets Pilot Killed in Small Plane Crash near Pickens County Airport
A single-engine Piper Tomahawk aircraft crashed near the Pickens County airport, Jasper, Georgia, on October 8.
The incident happened when the plane, carrying a student pilot, was attempting touch-and-go landings at the airport.
The pilot Michael Joseph Hughes, of Blairsville, was killed in the crash.
According to National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) Investigator Todd Gunther, “The airplane was then observed to go into what someone described as an aerodynamic stall, the nose pitched down and the airplane appeared to spin to the left until it disappeared behind trees.”
Small Plane Crash Took Lives of Two Utah Brothers
A single- engine Cessna 172 crashed in Mohave County of northern Arizona, near the Utah-Arizona border at about 7:30 p.m. on July 20.Two brothers, Daulton Whatcott, 19 and Jaxon Whatcott, 16, were killed in the crash. Both of them were students of Syracuse High School; Jaxon was about to begin in junior year this fall while Daulton recently graduated in 2013. Whatcott family spokeswoman Taunie Reynolds confirmed the unfortunate deaths and said that Daulton had recently received pilot license and he was flying his brother to Las Vegas for a basketball tournament.
The Mohave County sheriff’s office said that the accident happened just south of Virgin River Gorge, near Interstate 15 and about 25 miles southwest of St. George in Utah. The plane was en route to Mesquite, Nevada from Beaver, Utah at the time.
According to the FAA records, the plane was registered to D&G Aircraft Leasing in Bountiful, Utah.
The FAA and the NTSB are investigating the cause of accident.
