    Where: Harrop Green Farm in Adlington, near Macclesfield, UK
    When: Nov 15, 2009
    Who: 1
    Why: While en route, the helicopter crashed. The pilot, businessman Tony Sullivan, an experienced engineer and helicopter pilot, was pronounced dead at the scene.

    The crash is under investigation.

    Fighter Jets Escort Korean Airlines Plane to Stuttgart, Germany

    Korean Airlines flight KE-917 was intercepted by two supersonic fighter jets on July 15th.

    The Boeing 777-300 plane heading from Seoul, South Korea, to Zurich, Switzerland, was over Berlin, Germany, when it lost communication with the ATC.

    The German Air Force subsequently dispatched two fighter jets that escorted the plane to Stuttgart, Germany.

    The plane landed safely in Stuttgart. All two hundred and eleven passengers aboard remained unharmed.

    Japan-Bound Delta Flight Returns to Atlanta on Reports of Smoke

    250px-Delta_logo.svgDelta flight 95 had to turn back for emergency landing at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, Georgia, on January 18.

    The Boeing 777, en-route from Atlanta to Narita, Japan, had to return after a pilot of another flight reported smoke coming out of its landing gear.

    The plane landed safely and all 308 people aboard remained unharmed.

    Firefighters and technicians inspected the plane and cleared it at around 1 p.m. after which it again took off for Japan.

    What: American Airlines regional jet en route from Baton Rouge to Dallas
    Where: Alexandria International Airport, Alexandria Louisiana
    When: Friday 5:40 p.m.
    Who: 47 people
    Why: Emergency landing called for when smoke was detected in the cockpit. No injuries.

    Thai Airways Plane Diverts to Japan after Electrical Issues

    THAIThai Airways flight TG-671 had to divert and make an emergency landing at Osaka International Airport, Japan, on January 12.

    The Boeing 777-300, flying from Sapporo, Japan, to Bangkok, Thailand, had to divert due to some electrical issues.

    The plane landed safely.

    All 133 passengers and 19 crew members remained safe.

    Continental Flight Diverts to El Paso

    Where: El Paso International Airport
    When: January 6, 2011
    Who: 127 passengers
    Why: While en route, the Continental flight developed smoke in the cockpit.

    Pilots diverted to El Paso where they made a safe landing. The plane is being examined. Rescue services have not yet found a source.
