    Delta Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Nigeria

    Delta Airlines flight DL-55 had to return and make an emergency landing in Lagos, Nigeria, on February 13th.

    The Airbus A330-200 plane took off for Atlanta, Georgia, but had to turn back after the crew received an engine fire indication.

    The plane was evacuated upon landing.

    Five people sustained minor injuries during evacuation.

    Where: Santa Ana River bed at Opal Avenue, 10 miles from Redlands, CA
    When: Monday, Feb 08 2010 between 12:50 and 1 p.m.
    Who: 2 fatalities (a man and a woman) both off-duty California Air National Guard ( March Air Reserve Base) members
    Why: Witnesses say that while they were watching the plane doing aerobatics, the plane went down. The area is a place where planes often perform aerobatics, and the soviet-built Yakovlev was designed as a trainer and acrobatic aircraft.

    5 Killed after NATO helicopter Crashes in Kabul

    A helicopter crashed at NATO’s Resolute Support Mission headquarters in Kabul, Afghanistan, on October 11.

    Authorities said the British Puma Mk 2 helicopter crashed while landing at the headquarters.

    Five people were killed in the crash. The deceased include 2 U.S. service members, 2 British service members and a French civilian contractor. Their names have not yet been released.

    The cause of crash is being investigated.

    Pilot Unharmed as Small Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Saskatchewan

    A small plane had to make an emergency landing in a field off Highway 12 near Martensville in Saskatchewan, Canada, on November 6.

    The Cessna plane had just taken off from an airfield when the pilot Daniel Cotton decided to land after noticing engine cut out. “I was completely running out of room. I didn’t have enough altitude or airspeed to turn around and come back,” he said.

    The plane landed safely. The pilot remained unharmed.

    Japan Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Tokyo

    Japan Airlines flight JL-21 made an emergency landing in Tokyo, Japan, on March 6th.

    The Boeing 787-800 plane took off for Beijing, China, but had to turn back after the crew noticed a crack in captain’s windshield.

    The plane landed safely. There were 169 people aboard at the time; all of them remained unharmed.

    The airline arranged a replacement plane for the passengers.
