    United Airlines flight UA-4204 encountered turbulence on the way to Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, Virginia, on January 23rd.

    The plane was flying from Cleveland, Ohio, when it hit turbulence that injured a flight attendant.

    Why: The plane took off for Rome at 8:55 a.m but when a wheel on the left side of the main undercarriage fell off, the crew dumped fuel in the Adriatic sea (or Skadarsko Lake), and returned to Podgorica thirty minutes later for a safe landing.

    S7 Airlines Flight Returns to Moscow After Engine Failure

    S7 Airlines flight S7-1023 had to return and make an emergency landing at Moscow Domodedovo Airport, Russia, on December 23rd.

    The plane took off for Sochi, Russia, but had to turn back due to an engine failure.

    The plane landed back safely. All one hundred and ninety-two people aboard remained unharmed.

    Small Plane Crashed near Steamboat Springs Airport; No Injuries Reported

    A small plane crashed into a snowy field near Steamboat Springs Airport, Colorado, on January 22.

    It is believed that the 1959 Beech K35 aircraft lost power shortly after taking off from the airport.

    The pilot, who was the only one aboard, remained uninjured.

    The FAA and the NTSB are investigating.

    Swiss Global Air Lines Flight Diverts to Zurich due to Generator Problem

    Swiss Global Air Lines flight LX-528 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Zurich, Switzerland, on June 20th.

    The plane heading from Geneva, Switzerland, to Nice, France, was diverted after the crew noticed a generator problem.

    The plane landed uneventfully. All one hundred and five passengers remained safe.

    American Airlines makes Emergency Landing in Miami

    Seatbelt signs were illuminated—a sign in flight that it is safer to be seated and belted in—when an American Airlines 737-800 en route from New York to Miami encountered a passing storm system that caused turbulence severe enough to send 5 passengers and a flight attendant to the hospital. Pilots did not divert, but continued the flight to make a safe landing in Miami. Turbulence occurred forty minutes before landing. One flight attendant suffered a broken nose. 159 passengers were aboard the flight.
