KLM Cityhopper flight KL-981 made an emergency landing in Amsterdam, Netherlands, on November 23rd.
The Embraer ERJ-190 plane took off for London City Airport, England, but had to return after the crew noticed smell of smoke in the cabin.
The plane landed back uneventfully. All passengers and crew members remained safe.
Air Canada flight AC8953 operated by Jazz Aviation made an emergency landing at Macdonald-Cartier International Airport in Ottawa, Canada, at around 6:30 a.m. ET on August 13.
Pilots made an emergency landing after smoke was discovered in the cabin of the plane which was heading from Fredericton, New Brunswick to Toronto.
The flight with 69 passengers and 4 crew members on board landed safely according to Ottawa Airport Authority.
Air Canada spokesperson Debra Williams said, “Passengers were moved by ground transportation into the terminal and were booked on alternate flights to their destination. We apologize to our passengers for this incident and inconvenience.”
Air Canada engineers will inspect the plane to determine the cause of the smoke.
United Airlines flight UA-961 made an emergency landing at Shannon Airport, Ireland, on February 20th.
The plane heading from Frankfurt, Germany, to Newark, New Jersey, was diverted after an elderly passenger suffered a medical emergency.
The plane landed safely. The patient was pronounced dead upon landing.
Regional Express Airlines Flight ZL936 had to make an emergency landing at Orange Airport, New South Wales, Australia, at around 2 p.m. on January 12.
Authorities said the Saab 340 plane was heading from Sydney to Broken Hill when the crew requested permission for emergency landing due to an “alleged fault” in one of the engines.
The plane landed uneventfully and all 28 passengers and 3 crew members remained unharmed.
The airline made alternative arrangement for the passengers.
The incident is under investigation.
Wizz Air flight W63215 made an emergency landing in Malmo, Sweden, on November 3.
Authorities said the pilot declared an emergency after an unruly passenger kicked the cockpit door and tried to open two emergency exits. The passengers wrestled him to the ground while the plane, en-route from Bucharest, Romania to Torp, Norway, was diverted to Sweden.
The plane landed safely. The 43-year-old man was taken into custody.
The plane took off again and reached its destination with a delay of 1.5 hours.
American Airlines flight AA-2229 had to divert and make an emergency landing at John F. Kennedy International Airport, New York, on May 10th.
The Boeing 737-800 plane heading from LaGuardia Airport, New York, to Orlando, Florida, was diverted due to an engine failure.
The plane landed safely. All one hundred and fifty-six passengers and six crew members remained unharmed.
Mount Cook Airlines flight NZ-5184 had to return and make an emergency landing at Christchurch International Airport, Christchurch, New Zealand, on May 11th.
The Avions de Transport Regional ATR-72-212A, flying on behalf of ANZ Air New Zealand towards Palmerston North, New Zealand, had to return due to a technical issue.
The plane landed safely.
All 56 people aboard remained safe.
