    Why: 8 a.m. Monday a cropduster crashed in an orchard. According to his son, the 71-year-old pilot, Bill Cavanaugh, has 20,000 hours of flying.

    Cavanaugh sustained injuries and was hospitalized at San Joaquin General Hospital.

    Southwest SF to Denver Emergency Landing

    What: Southwest Airways Boeing 737 en route from San Francisco to Denver
    Where: Oakland
    When: August 28, 2012 7:48 a.m.
    Who: 143 passengers
    Why: The flight made an emergency landing at Oakland due to cabin pressurization problems. Fire and rescue crews were on standby.

    Passengers were provided another flight which arrived in Denver two hours late.

    Air Arabia Flight Makes Emergency Landing in India

    Air ArabiaAn Air Arabia flight made an emergency landing at Coimbatore International Airport in Tamil Nadu, India, on October 9.

    Authorities said the plane, en-route from Sharjah, UAE to Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, was diverted due to bad weather conditions in Thiruvananthapuram.

    The plane landed uneventfully. There were 168 passengers aboard at the time; all of them remained unharmed.

    The plane was able to continue its journey after some time.

    U.S. Air Force Plane Makes Emergency landing at Monterey Regional Airport

    A U.S. Air Force KC10 tanker plane made an emergency landing at Monterey Regional Airport, California, on December 8.

    Authorities said the plane that took off from Travis Air Force Base, near Fairfield, requested an emergency landing due to smoke in cabin.

    The plane landed safely. There were five crew members aboard at the time; all of them remained unharmed.

    Snowboarder Rescued by Search and Rescue team

    On December 18, 2012, the crew aboard a RCAF Cormorant search and rescue found and rescued a snowboarder stranded in a steep ravine between Horseshoe Bay and Lions Bay, British Columbia.

    In poor visibility and blowing snow, the 442 Transport and Rescue Squad hoisted Search and Rescue Teams 300 feet through trees to the waiting snowboarder who was retrieved, then flown to Vancouver International Airport and handed over to B.C. Ambulance.

    Emergency Landing in Louisiana

    Where: Emergency landing on a levee in New Orleans near Chalmette
    When: Wednesday 11:30 a.m.
    Who: The two pilots of the plane were picked up by Coast Guard helicopters flying a training mission over Lake Ponchartrain. No one was reported injured in the emergency landing
    Why: Pilots reported the engine trouble.
