Eurowings flight 4U-78 made an emergency landing at Cologne Bonn Airport, Germany, on June 12th.
The plane was heading to Leipzig, Germany, when smoke was noticed on the flight deck, prompting the crew to turn back.
The plane landed uneventfully. All passengers and crew members remained safe.
Qatar Airways flight QR-708 had to make an emergency landing at Lajes Field, Portugal, after encountering severe turbulence on December 4th.
The plane was heading from Washington Dulles International Airport, Virginia, to Doha, Qatar, when it ran into severe turbulence that injured 3 people.
The plane landed safely. The injured were taken to hospital.

Why: Just ten minutes out of Ercan, over the Five Finger Mountains, the plane was struck by lightning.
Consequently, several systems malfunctioned. Pilots returned to Ercan State Airport and made a safe landing. Passengers were provided alternative flights.

TUI Airways flight BY-643 made an emergency landing in Chania, Greece, on January 29th.

Why: After takeoff, the plane reportedly lost power , and the pilot attempted to bring the plane back down on the runway. Collier County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Karie Partington said “But it kind of bounced off the runway and into some brush.” Only minor injuries were reported
Air New Zealand flight NZ-103 had to return and make an emergency landing at Auckland Airport, New Zealand, on July 16th.
The Boeing 787-900 en-route to Sydney, Australia had to return due to an electrical burning odour aboard.
The plane landed safely.
The passengers were rebooked in other flights.
Air Arabia flight G9128 had to divert and make an emergency landing at Al- Minhad Airbase, Dubai, on May 3.
The plane, en-route from Kuwait to Sharjah, had to be diverted after a passenger said it was about to explode.
The airline confirmed that “[the] flight landed safely and the authorities are currently holding the necessary investigation.”
