    Why: While over Philippine airspace, a member of the crew found a cracked cockpit window that caused pressurization problems.

    The plane diverted to Manila and made a safe landing. The passengers, mostly from Taiwan, had to overnight in Manila but were provided hotel accommodations. Intervention from the Taiwanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs was apparently required.

    On the company website, the airline has a press release about its new A330-300 but does not make reference to its plane down in Manila.

    Small Plane Carrying Two Crashes in Nova Scotia

    A small plane crashed in a wooded area in Lunenburg County, Nova Scotia, Canada, on August 16th.

    The single-engine plane was carrying two people when it crashed into trees.

    Both occupants were able to walk after the crash.

    The cause of crash is being investigated.

    Swiss International Air Lines Flight Returns to Stockholm After Engine Fire Indication

    Swiss International Air Lines flight LX-1233 had to return for an emergency landing in Stockholm, Sweden, on December 27th.

    The Airbus A319-100 plane took off for Geneva, Switzerland, but had to turn back after the crew received an engine fire indication.

    The crew had activated the fire suppression system before the plane landed back safely. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

    Bluebird Airways Plane Diverts to Sofia due to Disruptive Passenger

    A Bluebird Airways flight made an emergency landing in Sofia, Bulgaria, on August 14th.

    Authorities said the plane heading from Budapest, Hungary, to Tel Aviv, Israel, was diverted due to a disruptive passenger.

    The plane landed uneventfully in Sofia. The disruptive passenger was escorted off the plane.

    Blue Islands Jet Hit by Lightning; Diverted to London Southend Airport

    Blue IslandsBlue Islands flight SI718 had to divert and make an emergency landing at London Southend Airport in Essex, United Kingdom, at around 6:37 p.m. on January 13.

    The flight, heading from Jersey to London City, was diverted after it was struck by lightning.

    The ATR42 aircraft, carrying 30 passengers, landed uneventfully. None of the passengers and crew members was hurt.

    Airline authorities said the aircraft was taken for inspection while the return flight to Jersey was cancelled.
