    Lot Airlines Temporary Boeing Fix


    Pending solutions for the incidents involving the aircraft’s lithium-ion battery produced by Tokyo- based GS Yuasa Corp, while waiting for Boeing 787’s to come out of hibernation, from April 12 to the end of May Lot Airlines is leasing an Airbus SAS from Portugal’s Hi Fly. The A330 flies 18 in business and 288 in coach.

    Lot purchased 8 eight 787s, and has received two, one of which is Warsaw, and the other stranded in Chicago.

    If Dreamliner operations remain suspended beyond that date, the lease can be extended

    Turbulence Rocks Air France Boeing over Narita Japan

    There is wisdom in keeping your seats belts fastened even when the seat belt sign is off —

    What: Air France passenger plane Boeing 777-200 flight 276 en route from Paris to Narita airport
    Where: Narita airport
    Who: 261 passengers and 16 crewmembers. Passsengers had no injuries, but 2 crew members suffered hip and thoracic fractures.
    Why: The plane was hit by turbulence while circling above waters off Chiba Prefecture while waiting to land at Narita airport. The plane landed safely and was sent back to France after examination.

    Southwest Airlines Flight Returns to Chicago after Bird Strike

    Southwest Airlines flight WN-105 had to return for an emergency landing in Chicago, Illinois, on December 15th.

    The Boeing 737-800 plane took off for Las Vegas, Nevada, but had to return shortly afterwards after the crew reported a bird strike.

    The plane landed safely. There were 164 passengers and 6 crew members aboard at the time; all of them remained unharmed.

    The airline arranged a replacement plane for the passengers.

    Small Plane Crash-Lands in North Carolina after Losing Fuel Pressure

    A small plane crash-landed in a field near Williford Road in Sharpsburg, Wilson County, North Carolina, on the afternoon of March 10th.

    The plane was flying from Fayetteville to Washington, at the time.

    The pilot, who was the only one aboard, was trying to make an emergency landing after losing fuel pressure.

    The plane sustained significant damage.

    The pilot remained safe.

    Chicago: United Flight diverts due to smoke

    What: United Airlines A-319 en route from Rochester to Chicago
    Where: Chicago
    When: Mar 5 2010
    Who: 120 passengers and five crew
    Why: Less than an hour after takeoff, smoke was detected in the airbus lavoratory. The flight returned to Buffalo and made a safe landing. The source of the smoke was reported as an auxiliary power unit and also a water pump that started a fire which a flight attendant put out.
