    ThomsonThomson Airways flight BY-7352 made an emergency landing in Birmingham, England, on August 24th.

    The Boeing 737-800 plane took off for Paphos, Cyprus, but had to turn back after the crew suspected a bird strike.

    The plane landed safely. No injuries were reported.

    Who: Pilot and passenger 41 year old Mark Yellen and 56 year old Paula Moffett
    Why: Witnesses say that on landing, one of the plane’s wings may have hit the pavement before the landing gear. The single engine plane flipped and crashed twenty-five yards short of the runway.

    United Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing due to Engine Problem

    United Airlines flight UA-1825 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Madison, Wisconsin, on July 1st.

    The Boeing 757-300 plane heading from Chicago, Illinois, to San Francisco, California, was diverted due to indication of an engine problem.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Norwegian Air Plane Diverts to Ireland due to Unreliable Transmitter-Responder

    Norwegian AirNorwegian Air flight DY-7148 had to divert and make a safe emergency landing at Shannon Airport, Ireland, on May 30th.

    The Shuttle Boeing 787-800, en-route from Boston, Massachusetts, to London, England, was diverted after it was refused to enter UK airspace due to unreliable transponder signals.

    The plane landed uneventfully. All people onboard remained unharmed.

    The plane resumed its flight 11 hours later.

    First Solo Flight ends Well


    What: single-engine Cessna 172 Skyhawk returning from a practice flight to Glens Falls, N.Y
    Where: Dillant-Hopkins Airport in Cheshire County, New Hampshire
    When: Sunday Jan 25 2009
    Who: Sarah Steves, an aviation student at Daniel Webster College in Nashua NH
    Why: On her first solo cross-country night flight, the pilot experienced power in the plane’s lights and radio. She managed to make an emergency call. Rick Bendel, manager of Monadnock Aviation notified emergency dispatchers who notified Keene and Swanzey fire official with an emergency action plan in place for airport emergencies.

    Steves had a hard landing on all 3 wheels w/o lights and taxied to the terminal without further incident.
