    Parking Lot Crash-Landing in Kearny Mesa

    At 5:30 p.m., a single engine Mooney M20L registered to William and Devon Logan of San Diego lost power over San Diego, struck a light pole and crashed in the Kearny Mesa Costco parking lot. One woman died at the scene; the other was evacuated to Sharp Memorial Hospital. Two witnesses who were assisting the injured, were treated for burns. The pilot managed to find the only spot that would not cause a lot of damage to people and property.

    The registration says the plane flies with a Porsche engine.

    Unexplained Helicopter Crash in Grande Cache

    What: Sarvair AviationRobinson R44 (owned and operated by Klint Sarver) en route from Grande Prairie to Grande Cache
    Where: about 50 km before reaching its destination Grande Cache, Alta
    When: 6 p.m. Friday night. (rescue saturday Jan 31) ,
    Who: Passenger and pilot are recovering.
    Why: The crash is under investigation; it is thought that the helicopter flipped and slammed into a mountain. The pilot has a punctured lung and other injuries; and was transported to Grande Prairie. Passenger was uninjured.

    German Helicopter Crash Kills Pilot on the Autobahn


    On Jan 10, 2013, a Robinson R44 Astro en route from Augsburg to Bretzfeld got caught up in a 380 kilovolts high voltage power transmission line and crashed on the Autobahn 6 in Southwestern Germany.

    The helicopter was flying below radar.

    Pieces of the helicopter hit a truck, but the driver was not seriously hurt. The accident occurred during rush hour between the junction Schwäbisch Hall and just before the Kochertalbrücke.

    The pilot, 42 year old Sven Berger was killed in the crash and will have to be identified thru his dna. The remains of the helicopter are melted, burned, broken and bent, and smell like burned plastic. First responders could not get through the flames to the helicopter.

    Berger was a firefighter, member of the Commerce and Industry association and owned the Schwab Bacher Kithcen Studios. The tentative cause for the accident is poor visibility. There were spots of freezing temperatures, rain and fog in Brachbach.

    Daily Air Plane Crash Lands in Taiwan After Co-Pilot Forgets to Deploy Landing Gear

    Daily AirA Dornier Do 228 aircraft landed on its belly and skidded some 700 feet before coming to halt at Taitung Airport in Taiwan, on December 21.

    The accident happened after the co-pilot forgot to deploy the landing gear while approaching the runway. The Daily Air pilots were simulating left-engine failure and emergency landings at the time, however, failure to lower the landing gear was not pre-planned.

    The plane was carrying only the pilot and the co-pilot at the time; both of them remained unharmed.

    Taiwan’s Aviation Safety Council is investigating.

    Cessna Crashes into Shed at Melbourne International Airport

    A Cessna Skymaster 337F aircraft crashed into a communications antenna shed at Melbourne International Airport in Florida, on May 27.

    Authorities said the pilot Christopher Hall, 57, was drunk when he steered his plane into the shed.

    There were two people, including the pilot and his pre-teen son, aboard the plane; none of them was seriously injured.

    The pilot was charged with child abuse without great harm and reckless operation of a vessel.

    The police and the FAA are investigating.

    Teterboro: Pilot and Co-pilot survive Fiery NJ Crash

    What: Twin-engine Beechcraft Baron hired by Quest Diagnostics en route from Reading, Pa. to Teterboro (where the where the plane in the recent Hudson crash originated.)
    Where: adjacent to Teterboro Airport,
    When: Friday, Aug. 21, 2009
    Who: Pilot and copilot
    Why: The flight was delivering blood specimens for Quest Diagnostics. Halfway down the runway, the pilot aborted the first attempt at landing, and hit a tree and broke in half on the next go-around, then crashing and burning in a nearby warehouse parking lot.

    Rescuers rushed to the scene to search for the pilot and co-pilot, and reportedly heard someone saying ‘We’re here, We’re here,”

    Rescuers came back with ‘I know you are, but I’m looking for the guys on the plane.’ And they replied, ‘We are the guys from the plane.’

    Both men are in serious condition.

    The pilot George Maddox, 54, of Sinking Springs, Pa. and copilot Co-pilot Sanil Gopinath, 42, of Laurel, Md survived and were checked in to St. Barnabas Medical Center.
