    What: Helios Airlines Boeing 737-300 en route from Larnaka Airport to Ruzyn? International Airport
    Where: Marathon, Greece
    When: August 14, 2005
    Who: 115 passengers and 6 crew
    Why: Before take-off the crew failed to set the pressurisation system to “Auto,” which is contrary to standard Boeing procedures. Minutes after take-off the cabin altitude horn activated as a result of pressurization. It was, however, misidentified by the crew as a take-off configuration warning, On August 14, 2005, a Helios Airline Boeing 737-300, registered in Cyprus as 5B-DBY crashed into rolling terrain north northeast of Eleftherios Venizelos International Airport (LGAV), Athens, Greece. The nearest town to the crash site was Gramitikos, Greece. The aircraft had departed Larnaka Airport, Cyprus, two hours and 57 minutes prior to the accident.

    The NTSB team joined investigators from the Greek Air Accident Investigation and Aviation Safety Board, the Boeing Company, and CFM, the aircraft’s engine manufacturer. The crash was caused by pilot incapacitation due to hypoxia brought about by depressurization, leading to fuel starvation. 121 died in the crash.

    Forestville Plane Crash

    What: Floatplane
    Where: North of Forestville, Quebec
    When: Sept 18, 2012 1 pm
    Who: 2 fatalities
    Why: The floatplane carrying two men crashed in an inaccessible area near a North Shore lake, Lake Petit Argent killing one man in his twenties and one in his fifties.

    After they were recovered by Canadian Forces Rescue, they were rushed to a Baie-Comeau hospital. The cause of the crash is unknown. The victims names have not been released.

    Small Plane Crashes on Mar 23

    On MARCH 23,2013:

    • a Romeo Aviation Beech A36 Bonanza crashed north of Cordova,IL after striking a power pole.
    • a Sky Dive City de Havilland Canada DHC-6-200 Twin Otter near Zephyrhills, FL flew 22 sky divers; one diver and one skydriver instructor died after a jump. Their bodies were found in woods near the airport.
    • A Natal Bell 206B-3 Jet Ranger III crashed in the Pietermaritzburg city center with five aboard. All five were injured, four hospitalized. No fatalities.

    One survives Nairobi Crash

    What: Cezanne Air Express Cessna 401A
    Where: 10km west of Nairobi, Kenya
    When: Oct 21, 2011
    Who: 2 fatalities, 3 aboard
    Why: The flight took off from Wilson Airport taking Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education exam papers to Marsabit and Lodwar and crashed. Witnesses describe the flight as spinning out of control before it crashed near a school. Kenya Red Cross Action team and Emergency Medical Services (Eplus Kenya) responded.

    The pilot and two passengers were hospitalized at Karen Hospital. Two died from the crash, one at the hospital. One passenger is still alive in critical condition.

    Cargo Plane Crash-Lands in Northwest Kansas

    Key Lime AirA twin engine plane, registered to Key Lime Air, crash landed near Roads 10 and 71 in Sherman County, Kansas, on the morning of January 21.

    The plane, carrying UPS cargo, experienced engine troubles and was trying to make it to the Goodland Municipal Airport when it crash landed.

    Key Lime Air confirmed the incident saying, “Key Lime Air received confirmation that one of our twin engine cargo aircraft experienced an unexpected engine anomaly in flight. The flight was operated with a single pilot and no passengers. The aircraft landed safely at an off-airport location close to Goodland, KS, without incident. There are no injuries to the pilot. Key Lime Air will be conducting a thorough examination of the aircraft in order to determine the cause of the anomaly.”

    Two Killed as Small Plane Crashes in Madison County

    A two-seater RV-4 plane crashed in a heavily wooded area off Mosley Hall Road in rural Madison County, Florida, on December 17.

    The plane took off from Jim Taylor Field at Ocala International Airport and was heading to Tallahassee International Airport when it went down.

    There were two people aboard at the time; both of the were killed in the crash. They were identified as the pilot William Swiggart, 32, and the passenger Maitland Harvey, 18.

    The cause of crash is being investigated.
