    4 Lost in Chopper Crash in Austrian Lake

    What: Eurocopter EC135P2 Helicopter registration OE-BXF
    Where: Lake Achensee, Austria
    When: March 31, 2011
    Who: 4 crew members, 4 fatalities
    Why: During a border inspection flight, the helicopter was flying very low, and tipped the surface lightly, the helicopter shot up, then fell. The helicopter had a crew of 3 Tyroleans and one Swiss. The air rescue and mountain guide, Stephen L. (38) was found floating; Pilot Mark P. (41), Mr Herbert F. (53) from the state police, and a Swiss civil servant (43) were not found until evening. They appeared to have been trapped in the cockpit. The pilot had 2,500 flight hours,and the helicopter was new.

    Fire and water emergency personnel responded, and (3 rescue helicopters and 43 divers) dive teams are on site using sonar imaging. They are looking for the black box so they can learn the details of the crash.

    In 2009 in Syria, two people died in an EC 135 helicopter.

    Family Lost in Brussels Cessna Crash


    Traffic was locked down at Brussels South Charleroi airport.

    On Feb 9, 2013 at ten a.mm, a privately owned Cessna P210N Pressurized Centurion en route from Brussels to Lyon was taking off from Brussels South Charleroi Airport in Belgium in freezing fog when it ran into trouble.

    The plane crashed beside the runway. A family of five, including three children, were aboard: a grandfather, his daughter, her three children age seven, six and two.

    Police and a special crisis unit arrived on the scene.

    Walloon Prime Minister Rudy Demotte (PS) and federal Prime Minister Elio Di Rupo (PS) offered condolences to the families of the victims.

    FAA official Lost during Proficiency Check in Jackson MS

    What: Robinson R44 practicing aerial maneuvers operating out of Hawkins Field Airport
    Where: duplex-style house about half a mile east of Hawkins Field airport in Jackson, MississippI
    When: Tues September 1, 2009 at 1932
    Who: Two FAA officials, pilot Charles Farmer and pilot Larry Wells of Crystal Springs
    Why: While in the course of a standard pilot proficiency check, it appeared the helicopter was experiencing engine trouble and trying to land, when the helicopter fell from the sky, clipped a tree and crashed into the unoccupied half a duplex house in Jackson Mississippi. The two victims both of whom worked for the FAA were taken to the Mississippi Medical Center, where Charles Farmer died. Larry Wells sustained serious injuries.

    The 2007 R-44 Rotorcraft belonged to WEBB GROUP FLP of Jackson Ms.

    Military Embraer Crashes in Angola, 6 survivors


    What: Força Aérea Nacional Angolana Embraer 120ER Brasilia en route from Albano Machado to Luanda
    Where: Angola
    When: Sept 14, 2011
    Who: 23 aboard, 17 fatalities
    Why: An Angolan Air Force Embraer 120 Brasilia crashed while trying to land at Albano Machado Airport in Huambo, Angola and was destroyed. Number of those aboard ranges from 23 to 36.

    Media reports say a wheel broke off on landing. Other reports say the plane was flying low and already on fire before it crashed in the Cachingue neighborhood.


    There were six survivors, including the pilot and co-pilot. The back of the crashed plane caught on fire, leaving the survivors who were in the front of the plane. Those dead include s Lt Gen Bernardo Leitao Francisco Diogo, and Lt Gen Elias Malungo Bravo da Costa Pedro, and two unidentified women, and two unidentified children.

    The plane broke in two on impact. The pilot says the problem was mechanical.

    A second accident occurred in Three Bridges, in Lubango, Huila province, killing the pilot of a SU-22.

    West Wind Aviation Plane makes Crash Landing near River Nile

    west wind aviationA West Wind Aviation plane made a crash landing near River Nile, South Sudan, Africa, on November 10.

    The Hawker Siddeley HS-780 Andover, en-route from Malakal to Wau, South Sudan, was flying on the behalf of United Nations’ World Food Programme to distribute food.

    All 4 crew members survived the crash.

    The aircraft was destroyed completely.

    Where: in an empty lot near the electrical sub station El Purino, in the west of Caldas, border with the municipality of Honda (Tolima)
    When: 18 FEB 2009
    Who: 5 crew members, three mid-ranking and two lower ranking officials all fatalities
    Why: The military “phantom” plane was on a training flight when it crashed in the vicinity of the air base.
