    Delta Diverts Orioles to Jacksonville

    What: Delta Airlines Boeing 737-800,en route from Baltimore to Saint Petersburg
    Where: Jacksonville
    When: Sep 30th 2012
    Who: Baltimore Orioles
    Why: Smoke was reported aboard the Baltimore Orioles flight from Baltimore to Tampa for a Monday game.

    Ned Rice, of Orioles operations said that “They came on and told us we needed to make an emergency landing, and then we were nearly free-falling for a few minutes as they raced to get us on the ground as fast as possible.”

    The smoke originated in the galley.

    The pilots diverted to Jackson and made a safe landing, where the plane was inspected and cleared before continuing to St. Pete.

    DHL Freight Flight Landing Delayed due to Light Bulbs

    What: DHL Air Boeing 757-200 freight flight en route from Valencia to Marseille
    Where: Marseille
    When: Nov 23rd 2010
    Who: flight crew
    Why: On final approach, the plane indicated a gear problem. Pilots aborted the landing and entered a holding pattern. A fly by revealed the gear was down. The flight made a safe landing. Maintenance made minor repairs and the plane was back in service within hours.

    Korean Airlines Flight Returns to Japan due to Engine Issue

    Korean Airlines flight KE-2728 had to return and make an emergency landing at Kansai International Airport, Japan, on February 15th.

    The Boeing 777-200 plane took off for Seoul, South Korea, but had to return shortly afterwards due to an engine issue.

    The plane landed uneventfully. All two hundred and sixteen people aboard remained safe.

    Volotea Plane Returns to Italy due to Engine Issue

    Volotea flight V7-1368 had to return and make an emergency landing at Venice Marco Polo Airport, Venice, Italy, on July 27th.

    The Boeing 717-200 flying to Preveza, Greece, had to return due to some issue with its right engine.

    The plane landed safely.

    All 95 people aboard remained safe.

    Air Canada Plane Makes Emergency Landing at Heathrow Airport

    Air CanadaAir Canada flight AC-84 made an emergency landing at Heathrow Airport in London, United Kingdom, on August 8th.

    The Boeing 787-900 plane was flying from Toronto, Canada, to Tel Aviv, Israel, when the crew decided to divert due to a fault in its oxygen system.

    The plane landed safely. All 252 people aboard remained unharmed.

    Delta Airlines Flight Diverts to Shannon Airport

    250px-Delta_logo.svgDelta Airlines flight DL-73 had to divert and make an emergency landing at Shannon Airport in Ireland, at around 2:48 p.m. on July 3.

    The Boeing 747-400, en-route from Amsterdam, Netherlands, to Atlanta, Georgia, declared emergency after an alarm sounded in the cockpit, warning about a possible fire in the cargo hold.

    The plane landed uneventfully. All 392 passengers remained safe.

    Inspection team found no evidence of fire in the cargo hold. The cause of alarm is under investigation.
