    Japan Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing at Tokyo International Airport

    Japan Airlines flight JL-6 made an emergency landing at Tokyo International Airport, Japan, on September 5th.

    The Boeing 777-300 plane took off for John F. Kennedy International Airport, New York, but had to turn back after the crew needed to shut down one of the engines.

    The plane landed safely. All two hundred and thirty-three passengers and fifteen crew members remained safe.

    Ebola Scare Forces American Airlines Flight to Land in Emergency

    American AirlinesEbola scare prompted American Airlines flight 2791 to land in emergency at Midland International Airport and Spaceport, Texas, at 11:05 p.m. on October 7.

    The emergency landing was made after a female passenger aboard the flight from Dallas to Midland, vomited and showed flu-like symptoms midair. The passenger was travelling from Istanbul, Turkey to Midland, through Dallas-Fort Worth international airport.

    The plane landed safely and the patient was shifted to Midland Memorial Hospital. The other 69 passengers aboard the flight were allowed to leave but were told to carefully look for Ebola symptoms.

    After extensive tests and consultations with CDC officials, the Midland Memorial Hospital confirmed that the patient was not affected by Ebola virus. According to the MMH press release, “As a reminder, the two primary cues that would suggest the potential for this virus are a fever at or above 101.5 degrees Fahrenheit and recent travel to an endemic area where several Ebola cases have been confirmed…Over the course of this event, the patient in question never had a fever nor have they traveled to or from an endemic region.”

    ExpressJet Plane makes Emergency Landing in Canada due to Flaps Failure

    ExpressJetExpressJet flight EV-4121/UA-4121 had to make an emergency landing at Halifax Stanfield International Airport, Nova Scotia, Canada, on January 19.

    The Embraer ERJ-145, en-route from Newark, New Jersey, had to be landed in emergency due to flaps failure.

    The plane landed safely.

    Everyone aboard remained unhurt.

    Emirates emergency Landing in India

    What: Emirates Airbus A330 en route from Dubai to Kochi
    Where: Kochi
    When: Jul 2nd 2011
    Who: 270 passengers
    Why: On approach to Kochi, the plane developed a loss of pressure in the hydraulics. (The landing gear would not retract.)

    The flight made a safe landing however, though it’s return flight was delayed. Passengers on the return flight were provided alternative transportation or hotel accommodations.

    Buddha Air Plane Makes Emergency Landing due to Engine Problem

    buddha airBuddha Air flight U4-952 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Biratnagar, Nepal, on April 8th.

    The plane, flying from Bhadrapur to Kathmandu, Nepal, was diverted after the crew reported a technical glitch in the left hand engine.

    The plane landed safely. There were 68 passengers and 4 crew members aboard at the time; all of them remained unhurt.

    Cessna lands safely on County Road


    What: Cessna Centurion T-210 en route from Dallas to Fort Collins-Loveland Municipal Airport Colorado
    Where: East 37th Street between Boyd Lake and Rocky Mountain avenues
    When: Noon Wednesday
    Who: Pilot John Stewart and passengers Bonnie Evertson and Ryan Kole
    Why: The pilot lost power about five to eight miles south of the airport and had to land on County Road 24E. No one was injured. The plane sustained minor damage to its propeller and one wing after hitting street signs on landing.
