The flight, en-route from Riga, Latvia to Dublin, Ireland, had to be diverted after a drunken male passenger stripped off his shirt and started punching the cabin walls. The fellow passengers and crew members restrained the man while the pilot decided to make an unscheduled landing in Denmark.
The plane landed uneventfully and the man was arrested by East Jutland Police.
According to an airline spokesperson, “This flight from Riga to Dublin diverted into Aarhus after a passenger became disruptive in-flight…On arrival, police removed and detained this passenger before the aircraft departed to Dublin. We are fully assisting the police with their investigations and the individual has been banned from travelling on our airline…We will not tolerate unruly or disruptive behaviour at any time and we sincerely apologised to other customers for any inconvenience caused. The safety and comfort of our customers, crew and aircraft is our number one priority.”
On December 12, an SAS flight taking off from Copenhagen, Denmark, had to change course in order to avoid a Russian military intelligence jet flying south of Sweden.
The SAS flight, en-route to Poznan, Poland, was asked to change course due to a Russian military plane which was flying in the international airspace with its transponder turned-off.
Regarding the incident as “serious, inappropriate and dangerous”, Swedish Defense Minister Peter Hultqvist said, “Flying without a transponder means that you can’t say where a plane is located…The risk of an accident is very high.”
According to Nicolai Wammen, Denmark’s Defense minister, “It is dangerous and completely unnecessary that Russian military aircraft fly so close to civil air traffic in the Baltic Sea. The safety of passengers must always come first, and Russia must respect that.”
Following the incident, Sweden and Denmark have summoned Russian ambassadors to register the complaint at official level.
Spokesperson of Russian Defense ministry, Igor Konashenkov, has rejected the claims saying, “The flight was being made strictly in compliance with international airspace rules, not violating borders of other countries and at a safe distance from traffic routes of civilian aircraft.”
A U.S. built Robinson 44 helicopter crashed into waters in central Denmark, near the eastern coast of Samsoe Island, on September 5.
The authorities believe that the private helicopter was en-route to Samsoe with 4 people aboard when it crashed.
Three dead bodies have so far been recovered from the sea, while the search for the fourth person is underway.
The identities of victims and the information regarding ownership of the helicopter has not yet been released.
The cause of crash is under investigation.
A Norwegian Air flight en route from Copenhagen, Denmark to Oslo, Norway had to make an emergency landing in Sweden, due to a bomb threat from an on-board passenger.
The Boeing 737, carrying around 94 people, was on its way on April 25 afternoon when a passenger told a crew member that he had placed a bomb in the cargo hold. Following the threat, the plane made emergency landing at Landvetter airport, Gothenburg, Sweden, at around 3.30pm GMT.
Lasse Sandaker-Nielsen, the spokesperson for Norwegian Air said “Passengers have left the plane and the man who had warned of the bomb is under control by the police.”
Björ Blixter, a Gothenburg Police official said that the investigation is underway.
