    Air Canada Flight Returns to Heathrow Airport

    Air CanadaAir Canada flight AC-851 had to return and make an emergency landing at Heathrow Airport in London, United Kingdom, on February 3rd.

    The Boeing 787-800 plane took off for Calgary, Canada, but had to return shortly afterwards due to an electrical smell in the cabin.

    The plane landed uneventfully. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

    Cracking Windshield Leads Delta to Vegas

    What: Delta Airlines Boeing 757-200 en route from Los Angeles to New York
    Where: Las Vegas
    When: Jun 16th 2011
    Why: While en route, the right windshield of the Boeing developed a crack.

    The flight crew diverted to Las Vegas where they made a safe landing. The disposition of the passengers is not known, though we presume that the passengers were provided alternative flights to Kennedy airport

    British Airways Flight Returns to Heathrow Airport due to Electrical Issues

    British Airways flight BA-177 had to return and make an emergency landing at Heathrow Airport, England, on October 20th.

    The Boeing 747-400 plane took off for John F. Kennedy International Airport, New York, but had to turn back due to electrical issues.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Qatar Airways Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Sri Lanka

    Qatar Airways flight QR-841 had to divert for an emergency landing at Bandaranaike International Airport, Sri Lanka, on May 19th.

    The Boeing 787-800 plane heading from Phuket, Thailand, to Doha, Qatar, was diverted due to reports of fire on-board.

    The plane landed safely. All 202 people aboard remained unharmed.

    Who: The number of passengers on board is not known at this time.
    Why: Engine malfunctioned during take-off. The plane taxied to the gate. DAMAGE REPORTED TO RIGHT ENGINE FAN AND COWLING

    Boeing Statement on Proposed Agreement Regarding Santa Susana Cleanup

    SIMI VALLEY, CALIF., Sept. 3, 2010 – In response to today’s announcement of an agreement in principle between the California Department of Toxic Substances Control, the U.S. Department of Energy and NASA regarding the potential cleanup of Santa Susana Field Laboratory in California, Boeing issued the following statement:
    “We are reviewing the framework of the proposed agreement between the U.S. Department of Energy, NASA and the State of California. While we don’t have specific details about the proposed agreement, we are hopeful that it moves the cleanup forward while preserving the biological, historical and cultural resources at Santa Susana.

    “Boeing remains committed to a cleanup that fully protects human health and the environment and preserves Santa Susana as open space for future generations. We remain open to continued dialogue with the State and will continue our environmental investigations, interim soil and groundwater cleanups and storm water quality improvements.”
