    Delta Airlines Flight Diverts to Wisconsin Over Medical Emergency

    A Delta Airlines flight had to make an emergency landing at Austin Straubel International Airport in Green Bay, Wisconsin, on February 10.

    The flight, operated by Flagship (Endeavor), was heading from JFK Airport, New York, to Minneapolis, Minnesota, when a passenger had a medical emergency, prompting the pilot to divert.

    The plane landed uneventfully. Everyone aboard remained unhurt.

    Skywest Airlines Jet Returns to Charlotte Due to Flaps Problem

    new-united-logoUnited Airlines flight UA-5711 had to make an emergency landing in Charlotte, North Carolina, on March 10th.

    The Embraer ERJ-175, operated by Skywest Airlines, took off for O’Hare International Airport in Chicago, Illinois, but had to return shortly afterwards due to problem with flaps.

    The plane landed safely. There were 76 people aboard at the time; all of them remained safe.

    The airline arranged a replacement plane for the passengers.

    Five Killed in Sudan Military Plane Crash

    A Sudanese military plane crashed in El Obied, North Kurdufan, Sudan, on April 30th.

    The Soviet-era Antonov 26 plane went down when it was attempting to land at the El Obied airport.

    There were five crew members aboard at the time; all of them were killed in the crash.

    Army officials said the crash was caused by technical issues.

    News You Didn’t Hear in February: Pilots Arm Detaches Leading to Hard Landing

    The carrier is Flybe.

    The aircraft was on a scheduled commercial air transport flight from Birmingham to Belfast
    City, with the commander, in the left flight deck seat, as pilot flying. It was night, and
    although there was no low cloud affecting the airport, the wind at Belfast was a strong
    west?south-westerly, gusting up to 48 kt. Before the approach, the commander checked
    that his prosthetic lower left arm was securely attached to the yoke clamp which he used to
    fly the aircraft, with the latching device in place. But his arm came off, leading to a hard landing.

    Fighter Jet Crashes in Texas


    What: CNR AIRCRAFT INC Aero Vodochody L-29 Delphin
    Where: Trinity River, SW of Scurry, TX
    When: Dec 13, 2012 10:30 a.m.
    Who: 2 fatalities
    Why: When the Aero Vodochody L-29 Delphin fighter jet impacted terrain, the two aboard, Fisher Floyd and Noell Rather were killed. The impact occurred near the juncture of the Trinity River and Highway 35, leaving a debris field for hundreds of feet.

    Floyd won the flight in an auction. He leaves behind a wife and two kids.

    United Airlines Flight Rejects Takeoff After Bird Strike

    United Airlines flight UA-209 had to reject takeoff from San Francisco, California, on November 22nd.

    The Boeing 737-800 plane was accelerating to takeoff for Seattle, Washington, when the crew rejected takeoff reporting a bird strike.

    The plane safely returned to the apron.

    All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.
