Why: While taxiing in reduced visibility because of fog, the Singapore plane’s right wing tip raked the tail of an Air China Boeing 737-800 which was stationary but awaiting takeoff. The rate of speed was so low, passengers did not feel the impact.
The flight was cancelled. Passengers on the Air China flight to Ulan Bator were provided with an alternative flight. Passengers on the SIA flight were provided hotel accommodations. There were no injuries.
American Airlines flight AA-2250 had to make an emergency landing in Hartford, Connecticut, on February 26th.
Caribbean Airlines flight BW-552 made an emergency landing in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, on August 29th.
Ryanair flight FR-3883 had to reject takeoff from Malta International Airport, Malta, on May 18th.
