Canada’s transportation safety authority is investigating after a float plane crashed south of Island Lake in northeastern Manitoba on Saturday evening. A de Havilland Canada DHC-2 Beaver float plane went down about 50 kilometres (27 nautical miles) south of Island Lake — which is about 470 kilometres northeast of Winnipeg — at 6:40 p.m. on Saturday, the Transportation Safety Board of Canada told CBC News in a statement.
