    Skywest/United Airlines/Continental Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Texas

    What: SkyWest en route from Houston to Toronto
    Where: East Texas Regional Airport in Gregg County
    When: March 6, 2012, 10:02 PM,
    Who: 58 passengers, 2 pilots, 2 flight attendants
    Why: While en route, a small fire in a cockpit printer sent the smell of smoke though the flight deck. The fire was reported to ATC and the plane made an emergency landing at East Texas Regional Airport in Gregg County.

    The 58 passengers disembarked without emergency, and were bussed to Dallas where another plane was scheduled to take them the last leg of their journey.

    AP reported this as a United Express jet. SkyWest operates the flight as a codeshare with United Airlines and Continental.

    Small Plane Makes Emergency Landing near Henderson Executive Airport

    XTR330An XTR330 aircraft made an emergency landing on Volunteer Boulevard near Henderson Executive Airport in Las Vegas, Nevada, shortly after 11:45 a.m. on November 5.

    The pilot of the aircraft, operated by Sky Combat Ace, reported mechanical issues shortly after taking off at 11:15 a.m. and declared emergency.

    The plane landed with only minor damage. There were 2 people aboard at the time of incident; none of them was injured.

    Sky Combat Ace and the NTSB are looking into the cause of incident.

    Allegiant Airlines Plane makes Safe Landing in Arizona after Engine Failure

    AllegiantAllegiant Airlines flight 175 made a safe landing at Phoenix- Mesa Gateway Airport, Mesa, Arizona, on April 28th.

    The aircraft, en-route to Arizona, was mid-air when the crew reported engine failure, and had to struggle hard to gain altitude before landing.

    The plane landed successfully. All 137 people onboard remained unharmed.

    The incident remains under investigation.

    United Airlines Cautionary Landing in the Azores

    What: United Airlines Boeing 767-300 en route from Washington to Moscow
    Where: Azores Islands
    When: Apr 21 2010
    Who: 170 passengers
    Why: While en route, the crew noted the smell of smoke, and diverted to the Azores (Terceira) to make a safe landing. Eu citizens were bussed to accommodations promptly; non EU were tied in paperwork at the airport for hours, straightening out their visas.

    Bird-Struck GoAir Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Ahmedabad

    GoAirGoAir flight 368 had to return and make an emergency landing in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India, at around 9:30 a.m. on November 11.

    The plane, carrying 116 passengers, was forced to return after a bird hit it just minutes after taking off from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad. The flight was heading to Mumbai at the time.

    The plane landed safely and none of the passengers and crew members was injured.

    Acting Director of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport S P Pandey confirmed that the passengers were accommodated in another flight.

    Piper Aircraft Crashes into Spokane River, Washington

    A small Piper PA46 aircraft crashed into the Spokane River, Washington on the afternoon of May 7.

    It is believed that the pilot was trying to make an emergency landing at the Felts Field, due to engine problems, but could not make it to the runway.

    Both people aboard the plane were killed in the crash. They were identified as Richard Runyon and Lyndon Amestoy.

    The cause of crash is being investigated.
