A small plane made an emergency landing on Black Beach in Falmouth after running out of fuel. No injuries were reported, and the Cessna landed safely on the sand.

An American Airlines passenger jet and an Army helicopter collided on Jan. 29 as the plane prepared to land at Washington, D.C.’s Ronald Reagan National Airport. Both plunged into the Potomac River, killing the 67 people aboard both aircraft. It was the deadliest plane crash in the U.S. since 2001. Much of the attention since the collision has focused on the helicopter’s altitude, and whether it could have been flying too high. The National Transportation Safety Board plans to provide an update Tuesday on its investigation. Investigators previously said the helicopter crew may not have heard key instructions from air traffic controllers.
