    United Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Memphis

    United Airlines flight UA-3548 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Memphis, Tennessee, on April 22nd.

    The plane heading from New Orleans, Louisiana, to Newark, New Jersey was diverted after it encountered turbulence that injured a flight attendant.

    The plane landed safely.

    Private Cessna Airplane Crashes near Jacksonville

    A private Cessna airplane crashed on Friday, March 21 before noon, behind Lowes in Palatka, Florida.

    The incident happened in Putnam County in between Gainesville and Jacksonville.  Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the possible cause of the crash.

    The pilot, Richard Carrara, 73 and a passenger, Malcolm Clevenstine,, 71 were critically injured.  They were taken to the nearby hospital. Malcolm Clevenstine, 71, died Friday at Shands Gainesville Hospital.

    Emergency Helicopter Landing


    What: N79PD helicopter en route from Midway Airport.
    Where: Emergency landing in Chicago’s Garfield Park ( touched down in Smith Park, near North Rockwell Street and West Grand Avenue.)
    When: Tuesday
    Who: 3 passengers on board. No injuries.
    Why: The helicopter made slow decent because of a cautionary light.

    Small Plane Crash-Lands in San Luis Obispo County

    small planeA small plane crash landed on a private property near Gifford Ranch Road, south of Highway 166 in San Luis Obispo County, California, on January 16.

    The authorities said the pilot reported engine troubles and informed San Luis Obispo Airport authorities that he would try to make an emergency landing at Highway 166. However, the communication was then disrupted and the plane was found in an upside down position in a riverbed near the highway.

    There were 2 people aboard the plane at the time of incident; both of them remained uninjured. They were identified as the pilot John Charles Butler, 76, of Phoenix, Arizona and his passenger Pamela Butler Zirion, 67, of San Luis Obispo.

    The FAA and the NTSB are investigating.

    2 Pilots Lost in Albatross at Boulder


    What: Aero Vodochody L39 Albatross on training flight
    Where: west of Boulder City Airport
    When: May 18, 2012, 12:30
    Who: Two fatalities
    Why: When Boulder City Police Chief Thomas Finn talked about the training flight, he said, “It landed flat; it pancaked into the desert.
    After the plane crashed, the engine was still running and caught fire, burning the rear end of the aircraft.” Two of the jets had taken off in tandem but only one issued a Mayday and crashed. The jet’s tail and most of its body are still intact.

    The flight took off from Boulder City Municipal Airport.
    Emergency responders included Metro Police and Boulder City police and firefighters.

    According to the Las Vegas Sun the registered owner of the plane, Walter Woltosz of LA, was not aboard.

    Turbulence over Atlanta

    On January 10, a Delta Airlines Boeing 757-200 en route from Jacksonville to Atlanta encountered turbulence on approach to Atlanta.

    A flight attendant was injured.

    No other injuries were reported.

    The incident is under investigation.
