    Who: 155 passengers 18 crew
    Why: When one of the Airbus’s 4 engines failed, the crew requested an immediate emergency landing in Russia.

    85 passengers were booked to continue to Beijing on Aeroflot and others were being booked elsewhere, later.

    Cracked Airbus Glass Delays Brussels Flight

    What: Thomas Cook Airlines Airbus A320-200 en route from Brussels Belgium to Tenerife
    Where: over Bay of Biscay
    When: Aug 14th 2009
    Why: While on the way to Tenerife, the windshield of the airbus cracked. The crew declared an emergency and returned to Brussels for repairs that delayed takeoff for about 7 hours.

    Where: Bogota
    When: Jan 3rd 2010
    Who: 63 passengers
    Why: After takeoff, the plane developed cabin pressure problems. The plane returned to the Bogota airport and made a safe landing.

    Two injured in Fraser Island

    A plane taking off from Rainbow Beach airport crashed in Queensland. Both people aboard were injured when they impacted the ground on Fraser Island.

    One was treated at the scene, one hospitalized with head and leg injury at Nambour Hospital.

    Millon Air Cargo Crash

    What: Million Air Boeing 707-323C en route from Manta Ecuador to Miami
    Where: Dolorosa
    When: October 22, 1996,
    Who: pilot-in-command, first officer, flight engineer, 1 passenger and 30 on the ground died in the crash. 50 were injured.
    Why: On October 22, 1996, a Millon Air Boeing 707-323C cargo flight carrying frozen fish and flowers crashed after takeoff from the Eloy Alfaro Airport, Manta, Ecuador. The aircraft ripped off rooftops of houses in the Dolorosa neighborhood and crashed in flames into a restaurant. Local officials claim an engine was on fire. The airplane was destroyed. The airline transport pilot-in-command, first officer, flight engineer, 1 passenger, and about 30 persons on the ground were fatally injured. About 50 persons on the ground sustained serious injuries.

    China Southern Airlines Flight Returns to Melbourne due to Flaps Problem

    China Southern Airlines flight CZ-344 had to return and make an emergency landing in Melbourne, Australia, on February 3rd.

    The Airbus A333-300 plane took off for Guangzhou, China, but had to turn back due to an issue with the flaps.

    The plane landed back safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.
