What: Delta Where: Sioux Gateway Airport When: Jan 06, 2010, 11:15 Who: Not Available Why: While en route, one of the plane’s engines developed a problem. The involved engine was shut down and the plane returned safely to Sioux Gateway Airport within fifteen minutes of takeoff. It is standard procedure on a flight, if there is engine trouble with a plane with multiple engines, that the problematic engine is shut down to avoid fires or causing further damage.
The local television station presented video and news of the incident involving a Delta.
However aviation sources including Flight Aware indicate it was a Mesaba Airlines Saab FOR Delta. Which is why I spent half of the afternoon on Flight Aware trying to find a Delta prefix. Special thanks to Simon Hradecky who always gets it right.
