    TAROM Flight Returns to Romania due to Suspected Oil Leak

    TAROM flight RO-363 returned to Henri Coanda International Airport, Romania, on October 3rd.

    The Boeing 737-300 plane took off for Amsterdam, Netherlands, but had to turn back due to a suspected oil leak.

    The plane back landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    What: Pinnacle Airlines Canadair CRJ-200 en route from Memphis,TN to Gulfport,MS
    Where: Memphis
    When: Dec 13th 2009
    Who: 48 on board
    Why: After takeoff, the crew received a rudder indication.

    The flight returned to Memphis.

    A replacement flight was provided to Gulfport.

    Pilots Blamed in Aires Crash

    What: Aires Boeing 737-700 en route from Bogota to San Andrés Island Colombia
    Where: Gustavo Rojas Pinilla International Airport on the Colombian island of San Andres
    When: August 15 2010, 2:15 a.m.
    Who: 131 aboard, 6 crew, 4 minors, 121 adult passengers
    Why: Prior to touchdown, the plane was struck by lightning (11 strikes recorded within 6 miles of the runway within a five-minute span of the crash)

    According to Colombian media sources, Colombian aviation inspectors blame the pilot for not “adjusting” to flying in the high wind due to flying in too low an altitude.

    The plane crashed and broke into three pieces. 115 were injured and one died; Maria Camila Angarita was a second casualty when she died in the hospital.

    Agricultural Plane Crash in NZ

    What: Ravensdown Aerowork light plane
    Where: Taranaki NZ
    When: Dec 11, 2012
    Who: 1 aboard
    Why: A light plane was engaged in fertiliser spreading and agricultural spraying for Wanganui Aero Work company. (Wanganui was acquired by Ravensdown Aerowork in 2004 but the plane had not been provided new colors.)

    The plane went down near Waitaanga Rd.

    The Rescue Co-ordination Centre heard the beacon at 5.38 p.m.

    The pilot was tended by paramedics then hospitalized at Waikato Hospital.

    The sixty year old pilot sustained serious spinal injuries.

    Ethiopian MD-11 Lands on Flat

    What: Ethiopian Airlines McDonnell Douglas MD-11 en route from Cairo Egypt to Liege Belgium
    Where: Liege
    When: Oct 9th 2009
    Who: 2 crew members
    Why: On approach, tire pressure sensors indicated a flat tire/tire failure. However, the flight landed safely without further problem.

    Vladimir Puchkov in Emergency Landing in Russia

    What: Yak-42 en route to Novosibirsk
    Where: Tolmachevo Airport
    When: Nov 30, 2012
    Who: 38 aboard, no injuries
    Why: Vladimir Puchkov’s transportation failed when a Yak-42 lost one of three engines while en route to Novosibirsk. THe engine began to vibrate and was shut down, which is standard procedure.

    Pilots made a safe landing at Tolmachevo Airport in Novosibirsk.
