    United Airlines Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Colorado after Electrical Situation

    United Airlines flight UA-859 made a safe emergency landing at Denver International Airport, Denver, Colorado, on May 1st.

    The Boeing 737-900 flying from Orlando, Florida, was about to land when the crew had to declare an emergency due to “electrical situation” aboard.

    The plane landed safely.

    All 185 people aboard remained unhurt.

    Volotea Plane Diverts to France after Problem with Wheels

    voloteaVolotea flight V7-2092 had to divert and make an emergency landing at Bordeaux–Mérignac Airport, France, on July 21st.

    The Boeing 717-200 flying from Strasbourg to Toulouse, France, had to divert due to some problem with one of its wheel.

    The plane landed safely.

    ANA Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Tokyo

    All Nippon Airways flight NH-937 had to return and make an emergency landing in Tokyo, Japan, on August 21st.

    The Boeing 767-300 plane took off for Wuhan, China, but had to turn back due to a hydraulic issue.

    The plane landed back safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Southwest Airlines Increases Number of Hospitals Nationwide in Its 2011 Medical Transportation Grant Program

    DALLAS, Feb. 4, 2011 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ —

    Southwest Airlines (NYSE: LUV) announced today that more than 60 nonprofit hospitals and charities from across the nation will be participants in its Medical Transportation Grant Program this year. Southwest has nearly doubled the grant program’s 2011 budget with hopes of assisting more than 5,500 patients and family members with their medical-related travel needs.Through the Southwest Airlines Medical Transportation Grant Program, the airline provides complimentary, roundtrip tickets to hospitals and medical transportation nonprofit organizations. The tickets are distributed by the organizations to deserving patients and their caregivers who must travel for medical care.

    “The feedback we receive from families who benefit from the Medical Transportation Grant Program reaffirms for us that we are meeting a great need during what can be a difficult time in these families’ lives,” said Debra Benton, Southwest Airlines Director of Community Relations and Charitable Giving. “Southwest is proud to be able to provide this program to even more nonprofit hospitals and charities as support for families affected by serious illness.”

    American Airlines Plane Diverts to West Palm Beach due to Suspected Fuel Leak

    American Airlines flight AA-238 had to divert and make an emergency landing in West Palm Beach, Florida, on December 11th.

    The Boeing 737-800 plane flying from Miami, Florida, to Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, Virginia, was diverted due to a suspected fuel leak.

    The plane landed safely. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

    Air Canada Boeing Diverts to Russia

    What: Air Canada’s Boeing-767 en route from Vancouver to Shanghai
    Where: Yelizovo airport
    When: Sept 5 2010 5:32 Moscow time
    Who: 152 passengers and 10 crew
    Why: While en route, flight attendants smelled a burning odor coming from the lavatory. The crew decided to divert and make an emergency landing at the Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky airport. The plane was investigated by maintenance and no fire was found, and after a four hour delay, the flight resumed.
