    Pilot Killed after Helicopter Crashes in the Woodlands, Texas

    HelicopterA helicopter crashed in the back yard of a house in the Woodlands, Texas, at around 1 p.m. on January 16.

    Authorities said the sole occupant of orange Safari Aero Sport Helicopter was killed in the crash. He was identified as Michael Gene Mims, 51, of Conroe. He was a businessman and deacon at the St. Anthony Padua Catholic Church.

    No one on the ground was injured.

    The NTSB and the FAA are trying to determine the cause of crash.

    S Dakota Medical Helicopter Bird Strike

    What: (new) Avera Careflight helicopter
    Where: S Dakota
    When: November 2, 2009
    Who: Pilot Craig Hilzendager and EMT Terry Willis
    Why: While en route, the new helicopter had a bird strike (specifically duck) that shattered the helicopter cockpit window, and injured the EMT.

    The landing was simplified by night vision goggles which made it possible for the pilot and EMT to be able to see the ground.

    Southwest Airlines Flight Diverts to Jacksonville After Loss of Cabin Pressure

    Southwest Airlines flight WN-3556 had to divert for an emergency landing in Jacksonville, Florida, on January 2nd.

    The Boeing 737-300 plane was flying from San Antonio, Texas, to Orlando, Florida, when it lost cabin pressure, prompting the crew to divert.

    The plane landed uneventfully. All 133 people aboard remained safe.

    Small Plane Crashes near Boca Raton Airport, FL

    A Cessna 180 aircraft went down on a dirt road near Boca Raton Airport in Florida, at around 12:45 p.m. on October 12.

    The accident happened when the aircraft was on its way from Columbus Metropolitan Airport, Georgia, to Boca Raton Airport.

    There were 2 people aboard at the time of crash. Both of them escaped with only minor injuries.

    The aircraft is registered to John Dukesherer of Michigan.

    The cause of crash is being investigated.

    Small Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Burke County

    A small plane made an emergency landing in a field near Lovett Road and McCoy Church Road in Burke County, Georgia, on February 6.

    The Burke County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the pilot had to make a hard landing after his plane lost power. He was taking photographs over Burke County at the time.

    The plane landed safely and the pilot remained uninjured.

    The pilot said he is an aerial photographer and has more than 4000 flight hours.

    Japan Airlines Flight Rejects Takeoff From Tokyo International Airport

    Japan Airlines flight JL-431 had to reject takeoff from Tokyo International Airport, Japan, on September 27th.

    The Boeing 737-800 plane was accelerating to takeoff for Matsuyama. Japan, when the crew rejected takeoff due to an engine issue.

    The plane safely returned to the apron.

    All one hundred and fifteen passengers and seven crew members remained safe.
