American Airlines flight AA-106 made an emergency landing at John F. Kennedy International Airport, New York, on January 7th.
The Boeing 737-800 plane flying from Phoenix, Arizona, was on approach to JFK Airport when the crew declared an emergency due to an issue with the flaps.
The plane landed safely. All one hundred and sixty-six people aboard remained unharmed.
Corendon Dutch Airlines flight CND-491 had to return and make an emergency landing in Amsterdam, Netherlands, on January 26th.
The plane took off for Lanzarote, Spain, but had to return shortly afterwards due to a technical issue.
The plane landed back uneventfully. Everyone aboard remained safe.

What: British Airways Boeing 757-200 en route from Barcelona to London

Why: After takeoff, the crew noticed an odor in the cockpit. Oxygen masks were deployed, and the plane returned to Barcelona. The flight was cancelled. No injuries were reported and there was no further notice regarding what the odor actually was.

Why: About to take-off, the plane had two flat tires, and had to be towed. Passengers debarked, the flight was cancelled; and the airline provided hotel accommodations for the passengers.
United Airlines flight UA-870 had to return and make an emergency landing in Sydney, Australia, on April 17th.
The Boeing 787-900 plane took off for San Francisco, California, but had to return shortly afterwards due to an unusual odor in the cabin.
The plane landed safely. There were 238 passengers aboard at the time; all of them remained unharmed.
Delta Airlines flight DL-87 made an emergency landing in Iqaluit, Canada, on February 5th.
The Boeing 767-300 plane heading from Frankfurt, Germany, to Detroit, Michigan, was diverted after five crew members became sick.
The plane landed safely.
One crew members was taken to a hospital while others were treated at the airport.

The plane heading from Atlanta, Georgia, to Buffalo, New York, was diverted due to aircraft handling problems.
