    Pegasus “Sochi Olympics” Hijack Attempt


    On Feb 7 2014, on a Pegasus Airlines Boeing 737-86J en route from Kharkov to Istanbul, the 45-year-old passenger seated in “2F” hollered “BOMB!” threatened there was a bomb in the baggage compartment and wanted to hijack the plane to go to the Sochi Olympics. His attempt to enter the cockpit was foiled. When pilots entered Turkish airspace, they informed authorities.

    An F-16 Turkish military fighter jet was called to provide an escort.

    The flight landed in Istanbul (on the Asian side of the airport where Pegasus has its hub) where the Ukrainian man was taken into custody.

    There was no bomb. None of the 110 passengers were hurt.

    The passenger was just intoxicated.

    Boeing Statement on Air India Express Accident

    SEATTLE, May 21, 2010 — Boeing wishes to express its profound condolences to the friends and family of those lost on Air India Express Flt. IX-892, as well as its wish for the recovery of those injured. Boeing is sending a team to provide technical assistance to the investigation at the invitation of the Indian authorities. All media inquiries about the investigation must be directed to the Indian Directorate General of Civil Aviation.

    Delta Tire Blows at Salt Lake

    What: Delta Boeing 767-300 en route from Salt Lake City to Paris
    Where: Salt Lake International Airport
    When: June 16, 2012. 7 pm
    Who: 198 aboard
    Why: On takeoff from salt Lake City, a left tire on the Delta flight blew. Pilots circled, performed a flyby and dumped fuel before they made a safe landing.

    The plane was examined in the hanger, and passengers returned home when the flight was cancelled.

    6 Killed after Private Plane Crashes into Maryland Home

    crash-houseA small private plane crashed into a house in Gaithersburg, Maryland, on December 8.

    Authorities said the plane took off from Chapel Hill, North Carolina and was scheduled to land at the nearby Montgomery County Airpark when it crashed. One of the aircraft’s wings, having fuel inside, caught fire after catapulting into the house.

    Three residents of the house, including 36-year-old of Marie Gemmell, her infant baby boy and a 3-year-old son, were killed in the crash. Their bodies were found in the bathroom at second floor. The other 2 residents, including Gemmell’s husband Ken Gemmell and their 5-year-old daughter, were not home at the time of crash.

    All 3 occupants of the plane were are also killed. They were identified as Dr. Michael Rosenberg, 66, David Hartman, 52 and Chijioke Ogbuka, 31. All of them hailed from Raleigh, North Carolina.

    The crash also caused damage to 2 other houses.

    The NTSB is investigating.

    Montreal Airport Fire


    A Royal Air Maroc Boeing 767-36NER, Flight 206 from Casablanca, Morocco, had touched down at 4:30 p.m.. While the plane was being loaded, the belt loader caught fire.

    Two hundred fifty passengers evacuated by slide. Several were injured in the evacuation, and seven suffered smoke inhalation, five of whom were hospitalized. The plane is out of service.

    The fire in the belt located by the jet’s cargo door was reported at Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport at 4:47 pm on Nov 4, 2013.

    An investigation is underway.

    Boing Emergency landing in Florida due to Laser

    What: American Airlines Boeing 757-200 en route from Orlando,FL to Miami,FL
    Where: ?WEST PALM BEACH
    When: 04/20/2009 0:125
    Why: “ON APPROACH REPORTED A LASER BEAM STRIKE” The plane was landed safely in spite of the pilot sustaining an eye injury from a laser pointed at the cockpit.

    Based on Flightaware information, the Aviation Herald reports the landing did not occur at West Palm Beach.

    Also, the flight number was erroneously listed on the FAA site as the registration #.
