    American Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport

    American Airlines flight AA-1803 had to make an emergency landing at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, Texas, on May 17th.

    The Airbus A321-200 plane heading from San Francisco, California, to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, was diverted due to issues with the weather radar and navigation systems.

    The plane landed uneventfully. Everyone aboard remained safe.

    Lufthansa Flight Diverts to Milan–Malpensa Airport

    Lufthansa flight LH-511D had to divert for an unscheduled landing at Milan–Malpensa Airport, Italy, on March 18th.

    The Boeing 747-400 plane en-route from Buenos Aires, Argentina, to Frankfurt, Germany, was diverted due to an issue with the de-icing systems.

    The plane landed safely. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

    Andes Lineas Aereas Lands Safely with Load of Brazilian Tourists

    What: Chartered Andes Lineas Aereas McDonnel Douglas MD-82 (also reported as -83) en route from Bariloche Argentina to Buenos Aires
    Where: Neuquen Argentina
    When: August 17 2010
    Who: 152 Brazilian tourists
    Why: While the chartered jet was transporting Brazilian tourists home from a skiing trip, the plane suffered sudden depressurization. Oxygen masks were deployed, and the plane made an emergency landing in Neuquen.

    The pilot made a safe landing in Neuquen. The incident occurred shortly after takeoff. Passengers were provided two replacement planes by the carrier.

    TUI Airways Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Manchester

    TUI Airways flight BY-2677 made an emergency landing in Manchester, England, on January 20th.

    The Boeing 757-200 plane flying from La Palma, Spain, was on final approach to Manchester when the crew went around reporting an issue with the flaps.

    The plane subsequently landed safely. All two hundred and twenty-six people aboard remained unharmed.

    Qantas Airbus Lightning Strike

    What: Qantas Airbus A330-300 en route from Singapore to Perth
    Where: Singapore
    When: Jul 22nd 2009
    Why: After takeoff in bad weather, the plane’s left wing was struck by lightning; however the flight continued to Perth without any issues.

    Where: emergency landing in a field
    When: Monday
    Who: John Hammerstrand
    Why: The pilot reported engine trouble after take off but was never found by rescue parties. In fact, after the distress signal, he was considered missing during the two hour search. Until the man’s wife reported that he called to report he’d had arrived safely after his plane experienced a power failure
