    No Survivors in AirBlue Airbus Crash in Pakistan

    What: AirBlue Airbus A321-200 en route from Karachi to Islamabad Pakistan
    Where: Margalla Hills about 10nm north of Islamabad
    When: Jul 28th 2010
    Who: 146 passengers and 6 crew
    Why: While on approach to Islamabad in poor weather conditions during monsoon rain and low visibility, radio contact was lost (at 09:45) and the plane impacted the terrain.

    Helicopters flew into the mountainous area, which is difficult to access. Initial reports were that there were no survivors then helicopters were reported to have flown five survivors to hospitals. Six bodies have been recovered including the pilot but there are no survivors (in spite of the video report.)

    What Gets Naked on the Way to Vegas Gets Jailed in Oakland

    What: Southwest Airlines Boeing 737-700 en route from Oakland,CA to Vegas
    Where: Oakland International Airport
    When: Thursday August 20
    Who: male passenger
    Why: While en route to Vegas, a male passenger apparently accosted a female passenger. He exposed himself, and hit a female passenger, at which time flight attendants became involved. By the time the passenger was arrested, he was naked. The male passenger was taken by Oakland police; the female passenger was taken to an Oakland hospital.

    Airbus Emergency Landing in Russia

    What: Aeroflot Airbus A320-200 en route from Irkutsk to Moscow
    Where: Novosibirsk
    When: Jun 11th 2009
    Who: 116 passengers and six crew members
    Why: The Airbus made an emergency landing at Novosibirsk when the windshield cracked.

    Croatia Airlines Plane Returns to Zagreb due to Engine Problem

    Croatia AirlinesCroatia Airlines flight OU-410 had to return for an emergency landing in Zagreb, Croatia, on September 4th.

    The Airbus A320-200 plane took off for Frankfurt, Germany, but had to return shortly afterwards due to a fault in left hand engine.

    The plane landed uneventfully. All passengers and crew members remained safe.

    Brussels Airlines Plane Returns to Belgium due to Hydraulic Failure

    Brussels Airlines flight SN-357 had to return and make an emergency landing at Brussels Airport, Belgium, on May 13th.

    The Airbus A330-300 flying to Kinshasa, Congo, had to return due to hydraulic failure.

    The plane landed safely.

    No one was injured.

    South African Airbus Turbulence Injures 28 over #Malaysia

    southafricanairwaysSouth African Airways Flight SA286, an Airbus A340-313X, was en route from OR Tambo International Airport in Kempton Park, Ekurhuleni, Gauteng, South Africa, near the city of Johannesburg to Hong Kong International Airport when it encountered severe turbulence four hours from Hong Kong while over Malaysia. The plane suffered cabin damage.

    Three crew and twenty-five passengers were tossed out of their seats and into the ceiling. THere were 163 passengers aboard. Fourteen ambulances waited at Chek Lap Kok airport to transport the injured to North Lantau Hospital, Princess Margaret Hospital and Yan Chai Hospital. Two people are still hospitalized.

    Pilots continued to Hong Kong and made a priority landing.

    The injured were taken off the plane and hospitalized.

    Malaysian authorities will be assisting the Civil Aviation Department in the investigation.

    *A priority landing means that the incident leads to the aircraft being given landing priority by the airport where it is about to land.
