    Thomson Airways Jet Makes Emergency Landing at Cardiff Airport

    Thomson airwaysThomson Airways flight TOM6555 had to make an emergency landing at Cardiff Airport, United Kingdom, on September 19.

    The plane was preparing to land at the airport when its landing flaps failed, prompting the pilot to declare an emergency. The flight was en-route from Tenerife, Spain at the time.

    The plane landed uneventfully. There were around 200 people aboard at the time; all of them remained unharmed.

    An airline spokesperson said, “The safety of our customers and crew is of paramount importance and we would like to reassure customers that this type of situation is extremely rare.”

    Air India Flight Diverted to Kolkata due to Medical Emergency

    airindia2A medical emergency prompted Air India flight AI 331 to make an unscheduled landing in Kolkata, India, on November 5.

    The flight was heading from Bangkok, Thailand, to Mumbai, India, when the pilot informed the Air Traffic Control (ATC) that a passenger had become seriously ill and sought permission for an emergency landing.

    The emergency medical services were put on standby at the airport, however, after some time, the pilot again informed that the passenger’s condition was quickly deteriorating and immediate medical advice was needed. A team of doctors was then taken to the ATC tower where they advised the pilot on the best possible emergency treatment which could be given to the patient onboard.

    The flight, carrying 244 passengers, safely landed at the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport at around 10 p.m.

    The sick passenger, identified as J Babariya, 58, of Gujarat, was immediately shifted to a local hospital where he later died.

    The flight resumed its journey after some time.

    Qantas Airways Flight Returns to Darwin After Loss of Cabin Pressure

    QantasQantas Airways flight QF-825 had to return and make an emergency landing in Darwin, Australia, on September 30th.

    The Boeing 737-800 plane took off for Brisbane, Australia, but had to return shortly afterwards due to loss of cabin pressure.

    The plane landed uneventfully. There were 172 people aboard at the time; all of them remained safe.

    The airline arranged a replacement plane for the passengers.

    Canadian North Flight Returns to Calgary due to Bird Strike

    Canadian NorthCanadian North airline flight 5T-1748 had to return and make an emergency landing in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, on November 18.

    The Boeing 737-300 took off for Fort McMurray, Alberta, but had to return shortly afterwards after its left engine ingested several birds.

    The plane landed safely after burning off excess fuel. All 134 people aboard remained unhurt.

    KLM Cityhopper flight KL-1325 had to return and make an emergency landing in Amsterdam, Netherlands, on August 25th.

    The plane took off for Alesund, Norway, but had to turn back due to a lightning strike.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Qatar Airways Plane Diverts to Goa After Captain Falls Ill

    The Airbus A321-200 plane heading from Thiruvananthapuram, India, to Doha, Qatar, was diverted after the captain fell ill.
