    Experimental Plane Crashed in South Carolina; Pilot Remained Stuck in Cockpit for 7 Hours

    An experimental plane crashed near Sumter Airport, Sumter County, South Carolina, at about 11:30am on April 27.

    The single passenger plane was scheduled to land at Sumter Airport around lunch time but it never showed up. The search and rescue teams were then sent for finding the plane, which finally spotted it along Brewington Road at around 5:30pm.

    According to the rescue workers, they found the crashed plane in an upside down position, with the pilot stuck in the cockpit. The rescuers then cut through the wreckage and lifted the pilot, who had remained stuck inside the cockpit for around seven hours. He was then taken to Palmetto Health Richland for medical treatment. His injuries are believed to be non-life threatening.

    According to the Sumter County Sheriff Anthony Dennis, “The FAA will come in and do an investigation and determine what caused the crash… At this time, we have no knowledge of what actually caused the crash.”

    As per the FAA records, the airplane was an experimental plane, built in 2012.

    Air Canada Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Toronto

    Air CanadaAir Canada flight 549 made an emergency landing in Toronto, Canada, on January 29.

    The plane, en-route from Newark, New Jersey, to Vancouver, Canada, was diverted after it lost cabin pressure due to a fault in an air conditioning unit.

    The Airbus A319 plane landed safely. All 107 passengers aboard remained unhurt.

    Plane Carrying China’s Richest Man Makes Emergency Landing in India

    A plane, carrying China’s richest man Wang Jianlin, made an emergency landing at Agartala airport, India, on June 11.

    The head of Dalian Wanda group, Wang Jianli and 8 other people were aboard the flight that was en-route from New Delhi, India to Beijing, China. Authorities said the Gulfstream G650 jet had to make an emergency landing due to a technical snag in its engines.

    Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

    The aircraft was grounded while Jianlin and other passengers were transported to a hotel.

    Hawaii-bound United Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Los Angeles

    United Ailrines BoeingUnited Airlines flight 1296 en route from Los Angeles to Hawaii had to return and make an emergency landing at Los Angeles International Airport on May 10 due to the smell of smoke in the cabin and cockpit.

    The Boeing 757, with 149 passengers on board was flying over the Pacific Ocean when the odor was noticed in the plane.

    The plane made an uneventful emergency landing at 11:38 am. None of the passengers or crew members were injured.

    Maintenance crews are examining the plane.

    Some passengers said they experienced the scariest moments of their lives when they were told to keep their oxygen masks and life vests on. One of the passengers, Rebecca Elder said that the smoke was coming from both sides of the plane. She further said “We looked around the other passengers, everybody was very calm and really nice and helped each other out.”

    Why: Initially the flight was delayed from problems with a galley water pump, but once off the ground, computers issued an assortment of fault codes and had to return to the airport. The flight did make a safe landing; and passengers debarked to alternative transportation.
