United Airlines flight UA-24 made an emergency landing at Shannon Airport, Ireland, on June 23rd.
The Boeing 757-200 plane took off for Newark, New Jersey, but had to turn back due to electrical problems.
The crew needed to shut down one of the engines before the plane landed back safely.
All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

Why: While en route, undisclosed engine problems caused the pilot to choose to shut down and engine and divert to Anchorage. On landing, the plane was towed to the gate. No indication is provided on when alternative travel accommodations were provided for passengers.
An executive jet, registered to New York-based Constellation Leasing, had to make an emergency landing at Shannon Airport, Ireland, on February 1.
The Dassault Falcon 900EX jet was en-route to an airport in the United Kingdom when the crew reported issues with its fuel system and declared an emergency.
Emergency services personnel were ready at the scene when the plane safely landed at around 3:45 p.m.
There were 6 passengers and crew members aboard at the time; none of them was harmed.
The aircraft was taken for examination while arrangements were made to transport passengers to London.

Why: Ten minutes after takeoff, smoke was streaming from the plane’s right engine, and the cabin filled with the smell of burning rubber. The plane diverted to Wellington where it landed safely, and passengers debarked.
Norwegian International Airlines flight D8-5620 made a safe landing at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport, Helsinki, Finland, on April 23rd.
The Boeing 737-800, flying from Barcelona, Spain, to Helsinki, was on approach to runway when it was struck by lightning.
The plane landed safely. All people onboard remained unharmed.

Why: 20 minutes into the flight, an alarm warned of fire in one of the wings. Smoke was reported in the cabin.The aircraft was breaking very hard, and used half the runway to stop. On return to the airport, passengers deplaned via emergency slides, but there was apparently no external wing fire. There was a minor injury on the slide disembarkment.
Swiss Global Air Lines flight LX-1660 had to return and make an emergency landing in Zurich, Switzerland, on February 20th.
The plane took off for Venice, Italy, but had to turn back after a bird strike.
The plane landed back safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.
