    Blue Air Flight Returns to Liverpool John Lennon Airport due to Suspected Bird Strike

    blue airBlue Air flight 0B134 had to return and make an emergency landing at Liverpool John Lennon Airport in England, on August 17.

    The Boeing 737, that took off for Bucharest, Romania, had to return after the pilot reported a suspected bird-hit just 20 minutes into the flight.

    The plane landed safely and burning off excess fuel. Everyone aboard remained unhurt.

    After inspection, the plane was cleared to take off again.

    Alaska Airlines Plane Returns to Portland International Airport

    AlaskaAlaska Airlines flight 644 had to return and make an emergency landing at Portland International Airport, Oregon, on April 13th.

    The plane took off for Phoenix, Arizona, but had to return shortly afterwards after it lost pressurisation.

    The plane landed uneventfully. There were 144 passengers and 5 crew members aboard at the time; all of them remained safe.

    The airline arranged a replacement plane for the passengers.

    American Airlines Flight Diverts to San Francisco

    American EagleAmerican Airlines flight AA-192 had to divert and make an emergency landing in San Francisco, California, on September 20th.

    The Boeing 777-300 plane was heading from Hong Kong, China, to Los Angeles, California, when one of the pilots suffered a seizure, prompting the crew to declare an emergency.

    The plane landed uneventfully.

    PAL Express Flight Rejects Takeoff After Bird Strike

    PAL Express flight PR-2814 had to reject takeoff from Davao, Philippines, on August 29th.

    The Airbus A321-200 plane was accelerating to takeoff for Manila, Philippines, when the crew rejected takeoff due to a bird strike.

    The plane safely returned to the apron. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

    American Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing due to Flaps Issue

    American Airlines flight AA-1343 had to return and make an emergency landing in Cancun, Mexico, on February 20th.

    The Airbus A321-200 plane took off for Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, Texas, but had to return shortly afterwards due to an issue with the flaps.

    The plane landed back safely. There were 185 people aboard at the time; all of them remained unharmed.

    Airbus Eats Bird over Glasgow

    What: Thomas Cook Airlines Airbus A330-200, en route from Glasgow,SC (UK) to Dalaman (Turkey)
    Where: Manchester
    When: May 3rd 2009
    Who: 322 passengers and 11 crew
    Why: Over Glasgow, the left hand engine apparently ingested a bird; subsequently, the plane suffered failure of the left hand engine while departing (climbing over) Glasgow, then suffered slat failure. The crew was able to shut down the engine and land in Manchester
