American Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport
American Airlines flight AA-1803 had to make an emergency landing at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, Texas, on May 17th.
The Airbus A321-200 plane heading from San Francisco, California, to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, was diverted due to issues with the weather radar and navigation systems.
The plane landed uneventfully. Everyone aboard remained safe.

A 1993 YAK-55M single engine plane crashed at Stevens Point Municipal Airport, Portage County, Wisconsin, while performing in an air show just before 12:30 p.m. on June 1.
The single-seater plane especially designed for aerobatics competitions was performing aerial maneuvers during the aerobatics portion of the biennial air show when it crashed into a wooded area close to the airport runway. One of the eye witnesses described the incident saying, “the airplane spiralled toward the ground, looped up, and then crashed into the trees.”
The 47 year old pilot died on the spot. He has been identified as William Cowden, of Menomonie.
All the festivities at the airport were stopped immediately after the plane went down.
Stevens Point police secured the site until officials of the Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board arrived to conduct further investigation. Police are asking anyone having video of the incident to contact Detective Sgt. Joe Gruber at (715) 346-1518.

Why: A Mercy Air Med medical helicopter crash was en route to pick up a patient when it crashed on Wednesday at 9 p.m killing Pilot Gene Grell, paramedic Russell Piehl, and Nurse Shelly Lair-Langenbau. The pilot had 2,800 hours flight time.
The weather at the time was a light freezing drizzle, fog and mist at 8 p.m. at the Mason City airport, 27 degrees, and overcast conditions at 9 p.m.
The patient was taken by ambulance to Mercy-North Iowa Hospital.
The helicopter service of Mercy Medical Center-North that employed the pilot is Med-Trans. The nurse and paramedic worked for the hospital.
The crash occurred fifteen miles from where it took off. The helicopter did not have a black box but it did have a tracking satellite system. The Bell 407 was new in April 2011 and had night-vision goggles, a terrain warning system and a satellite tracking system.
The NTSB and FAA are investigating. Weather is being investigated as a possible cause. There was no SOS or emergency communication from the helicopter. The wreckage will probably be relocated on Jan 4 2013. Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Department is keeping the site secure.

The flight landed safely in Paris after a five hour delay.
