    Dragonair Plane Returns to Myanmar After Bird Strike

    dragonairDragonair flight KA-251 had to return and make an emergency landing in Yangon, Myanmar, on November 25.

    The Airbus A321-200 took off for Hong Kong, China, but had to return shortly afterwards after its windshield cracked due to a bird hit.

    The plane landed back safely. None of the 131 people aboard were hurt.

    The passengers were accommodated in other flights.

    TAP Portugal Plane Diverts to Africa due to Bird Ingestion

    TAPTAP Portugal flight TP-1534 had to divert and make an emergency landing at Amílcar Cabral International Airport, Cape Verde, Africa, on July 28th.

    The Airbus A320-200 flying from Praia to Lisbon, Portugal, had to divert due to bird ingestion by one of its engines.

    The plane landed safely.

    No one was injured.

    What: Easyjet Airbus A319-100 en route from London to Tallinn
    Where: Hamburg
    When: Nov 12th 2009
    Who: 128 passengers,
    Why: While en route, the plane developed a fuel leak and diverted to Hamburg Germany.

    After landing, maintenance determined that there was no fuel leak, just a faulty fuel gauge.

    Passengers were supplied with alternative transportation.

    Virgin Atlantic Jet Diverts to London’s Gatwick Airport

    Virgin AtlanticVirgin Atlantic flight VS-75 had to divert and make an emergency landing at London’s Gatwick Airport on September 14.

    According to the airline, the Boeing 747-400 plane was en-route from Manchester, UK to Orlando, Florida, when it was diverted due to a ‘minor technical problem’.

    The plane landed uneventfully after dumping extra fuel. There were 433 people aboard at the time; all of them remained unhurt.

    The airline arranged a replacement aircraft for the passengers.

    Air New Zealand Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Christchurch

    Air New Zealand flight NZ-677 made an emergency landing in Christchurch, New Zealand, on January 16th.

    The Airbus A320-200 plane heading from Auckland to Dunedin, New Zealand, was diverted after the crew received an unsafe gear indication.

    The plane landed safely. All one hundred and eighteen people aboard remained unharmed.
