    Ultralight Crashes, Killing Two

    Where: Silver-on-Sauldre, Soyers Field
    When: FRIDAY, OCTOBER 9, 2009
    Who: pilot and passenger
    Why: The ultra-light crashed and burned in the field, killing the pilot and passenger. There were no eye-witnesses, but people described hearing the engine “cough” just prior to crashing. The pilot and passenger have not been identified, but they are said to be Belgian.

    Virgin Atlantic Plane Returns to Las Vegas due to Wheel Well Fire Indication

    Virgin AtlanticVirgin Atlantic flight VS-44 made an emergency landing in Las Vegas, Nevada, on August 6th.

    The Boeing 747-400 plane was flying to Gatwick Airport, England, when the crew decided to turn back due to a wheel well fire indication.

    The plane landed safely. There were 359 people aboard at the time; all of the remained unhurt.

    Sky King Flight Cancelled

    What: Sky King/Direct Air Boeing 737-200 en route from Lakeland,FL to Niagara Falls,NY
    Where: Lakeland
    When: Oct 15th 2011
    Why: The charter flight took off once and returned to the Lakeland with cabin pressure problems, then took off again, again with cabin pressure problems.

    The passengers were booked on alternative flights.

    Virgin Atlantic Plane Returns to Heathrow Airport after Laser Strike

    Virgin Atlantic flight VS-25 had to return and make an emergency landing at Heathrow Airport in London, United Kingdom, on February 14.

    The Airbus A340-600 took off for John F. Kennedy International Airport, New York, but had to return shortly afterwards after the first officer became sick due to a laser strike.

    The plane landed safely. There were 252 passengers and 15 crew members aboard at the time; all of them remained injured.

    Thai Airways Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Bangkok

    Thai Airways flight TG-676 had to return and make an emergency landing in Bangkok, Thailand, on February 19th.

    The Airbus A380-800 plane took off for Narita International Airport, Japan, but had to return shortly afterwards due to an engine problem.

    The plane landed uneventfully. All passengers and crew members remained safe.

    Etihad Airbus makes Safe Landing in Scotland

    EtihadEtihad Airlines EY-27 made a safe emergency landing at Edinburgh Airport, Scotland, UK, on August 1st.

    The Airbus A330-200 flying from Abu Dhabi, UAE, had just landed when the crew noticed a hole under its right side wing.

    The plane landed uneventfully.

    No one was injured.
