    What: Delta Airlines/Pinnacle Airlines Canadair CRJ-200 en route from Wilkes-Barre,PA to Detroit,MI
    Where: Elmira
    When: Jan 19th 2012
    Who: 41 passengers and 3 crew
    Why: After takeoff, the flight developed hydraulic issues.

    Pilots diverted to Elmira. However, the hydraulic problem was exacerbated by a flaps problem, leading to an aborted landing and a fly by.

    Pilots made a fast but safe landing.

    A replacement jet was provided.

    PIA Karachi Emergency Landing

    What: PIA Pakistan International Airlines Boeing 747-300 en route from Karachi to Lahore
    Where: Karachi
    When: Sep 10th 2010
    Who: 480 passengers
    Why: While en route, the plane’s engine ingested a bird.

    The pilot returned the plane to Karachi where it made a safe landing. Passengers were provided an alternative flight at 8 pm

    Lufthansa Flight Returns to Frankfurt due to Smell On Board

    Lufthansa flight LH-542 made an emergency landing in Frankfurt, Germany, on August 24th.

    The Airbus A340-300 plane took off for Bogota, Colombia, but had to turn back after the crew noticed a smell on board.

    The plane landed back safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Air Canada Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Las Vegas

    Air CanadaAir Canada flight RV-1856 made an emergency landing in Las Vegas, Nevada, on November 2nd.

    The plane took off for Montreal, Canada, but had to turn back due to an indication of failure of an Air Data Inertial Reference Unit (ADIRU).

    The plane landed uneventfully. There were 126 people aboard at the time; all of them remained safe.

    Spirit Airlines Emergency Landing in Los Angeles

    What: Spirit Airlines Airbus A319 en route from Los Angeles to Fort Lauderdale
    Where: Houston
    When: July 8, 2012
    Who: 100+ passengers
    Why: After a disruption aboard the flight, the pilots diverted the Spirit Airlines flight to Houston, where they made a safe landing. Passengers who disembarked had no Spirit Airlines counter because, although flights are soon scheduled to begin landing there, currently there is no Spirit Airlines Customer Service at Houston Intercontinental Airport.

    On arrival, the disruptive passenger was handed left in the custody of Houston Law Enforcement.

    The disruptive passenger was an elderly blind frenchman in his eighties who had become disoriented and frightened. His son was called by authorities.

    Passengers reboarded the flight and departed Houston at 6:42 PM.
