    Poconé Crash Kills Brazilian Farmer Minutes from Airport

    Who: 4 aboard, 4 fatalities
    Why: Twelve miles from the airport, the pilot apparently lost control and crashed. The plane took off at 5:12 pm, and crashed 12 km later in the Pantanal region of Mato Grosso.

    Martin Wagner, his son James, two mechanics named Dede and Alcindo died in the crash.

    Wagner, who is a local cattle farmer, was reported missing by his family, after which a search plane was sent out and did not locate them. The charred wreckage of the plane was located the next day after sunrise, only minutes from the airport. The owner of the plane died in the crash.

    Small Plane Crash in Iowa Kills 4

    A small plane crashed in Guthrie County, Iowa, on November 9th.

    The plane was transporting four people to Osceola, Iowa, when it went down in a cow pasture. It is believed that the pilot had suffered a heart attack and a student pilot was attempting to make an emergency landing at Guthrie Center Airport.

    All four people were killed in the crash. They were identified as Edward Ralph Anderson,49, Patrick Kellen,36, Samantha Clark,15, and Tyler Douvia, 28.

    Bird-Hit Delta Airlines Flight Makes Safe Landing in Orlando

    Delta Airlines flight DL-2128 suffered a bird strike near Orlando, Florida, on June 11th.

    The incident happened when the Airbus A320-200 plane flying from Detroit, Michigan, was on approach to Orlando International Airport.

    The plane continued for a safe landing. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Delta Airlines Plane Makes Emergency Landing due to APU Problem

    250px-Delta_logo.svgDelta Airlines flight DL-1183 made an emergency landing in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, on August 22nd.

    The plane was en-route from Norfolk, Virginia to Atlanta, Georgia, when the crew reported issues with the Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) and decided to divert to Myrtle Beach for an emergency landing.

    The plane landed safely. There were 160 passengers and 6 crew members aboard at the time; all of them remained safe.

    Military Jets Escort Hawaii-Bound American Airlines Plane

    A Hawaii-bound American Airlines plane was escorted by two fighter jets on May 19th.

    American Airlines flight 31 was heading from Los Angeles, California, to Honolulu, Hawaii, when a passenger tried to break into the cockpit. The crew reported the disturbance, which prompted the Pacific Command to dispatch a pair of fighter jets for escort.

    The passenger, identified as Turkish national Anil Uskanil, 25, was restrained and subdued before the plane landed in Honolulu.

    “The aircraft is currently on the ground, and the individual who disrupted the flight has been detained,” the Department of Homeland Security said.

    JetBlue Flight Makes Emergency Landing at Raleigh–Durham International Airport

    JetBlue flight B6-218 made an emergency landing at Raleigh–Durham International Airport, North Carolina, on July 26th.

    The plane heading from Charlotte, North Carolina, to John F. Kennedy International Airport, New York, was diverted due to a hydraulic issue.
