Aruba-bound jet incurs Donkey Strike

What: Tiara Air Aruba Shorts 360-100 en route from Las Piedras Venezuela to Aruba
Where: Las Piedras
When: Dec 5th 2011
Who: 29 passengers, 4 crew
Why: Taking off from Las Piedras, the plane struck a donkey with its right main gear.

Pilots continued on to Aruba where they made a safe landing.

There were no injuries. Apparently the forecast for repair is better in Aruba than Las Piedras.

    Plane Makes Emergency Landing at Capital City Airport

    A twin-engine Citation aircraft had to return and make an emergency landing at Capital City Airport in Fairview Township, York County, Pennsylvania, on September 19.

    Authorities said the plane was near Chambersburg when one of its engines failed, prompting the pilot to turn around.

    The plane landed safely.

    Both people aboard remained unharmed.

    Emergency Landing at Bush Intercontinental Airport

    What: Xtra Airways jet en route from from Alexandria, Louisiana to Mexico diverted to make an emergency landing
    Where: Bush Intercontinental Airport
    When: Thursday Morning
    Who: 129 immigration prisoners
    Why: When a fire was detected on board, the plane was diverted to Bush Intercontinental Airport. THe plane landed safely. There were no injuries.

    Aurigny Flight Returns to London Stansted Airport After Hydraulic Failure

    Aurigny flight GR-627 had to return and make an emergency landing at London Stansted Airport, England, on March 27th.

    The plane took off for Guernsey, Channel Islands, but had to turn back due to a hydraulic failure.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed

    What: Etihad Airlines Airbus A330-200 en route from Kathmandu (Nepal) to Abu Dhabi
    Where: Kathmandu
    When: Jan 17th 2012 9:15 pm
    Who: 168 aboard
    Why: While taking off from Kathmandu, the engine developed problems. THe crew shut it down and returned within minutes to land at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu.

    Another source says the flight circled for an hour to burn fuel to lighten the landing.

    Passengers were provided accommodations. Etihad engineers from Abu Dhabi arrived to handle the problem on January 21.

    NZ Chopper crash

    On October 28,at 3;20 pm, a Mayday was declared when a Helicopter Line Aerospatiale AS 355 Ecureuil was landing and crashed into another of its own helicopters which had landed during a scenic tours.

    There were seven people aboard at the time of the landing. The pilot, his six passengers and five passengers from the helicopter that was struck were all injured.

    The pilot was landing near Tyndall Glacier in Mt Aspiring National Park.

    Twelve injured were taken to Queenstown airport, including the pilot, who was later transferred to Dunedin Hospital.

    United Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Las Vegas

    United Airlines flight UA-642 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Las Vegas, Nevada, on July 10th.

    The Boeing 757-200 plane heading from Los Angeles, California, to Newark, New Jersey, was diverted due to an engine problem.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.
