    Summit Air Freight Flight Crashes in Nepal; 2 Killed, 3, Injured

    A Summit Air freight flight crashed on the runway of Tenzing–Hillary Airport, Lukla, Chaurikharka, Nepal, on May 27th.

    The Let L-410 flying from Kathmandu, Nepal, was about to land when it hit a tree near the runway and hit the land. The incident happened due to fog.

    The aircraft sustained technical problems.

    Captain and the first officer were killed in the crash. All three crew members sustained injuries.

    The incident remains under investigation.

    Helicopter crashes into houses in Antigua, 4 Injured


    What: Bell 206L helicopter
    Where: Antigua, Guatemala
    When: April 15, 2012
    Who: Four injured
    Why: A helicopter flying over Antigua for aerial photography crashed into two houses at 9:30 in the morning.

    No residents were at home at the time of the crash. Three Guatemalans and one American were injured in the crash. The American broke his tibia and fibula. The injured were taken to National Hospital. The American was identified only as Michael; the others were Juan Carlos Menendez, 40, Andres Turcios, 32, and Octavio Gordillo, 52.

    The helicopter was broken in two by the impact. The translation of an unverified newspaper report said that the pilot had been flying low when a bird hit the rotors.

    U.S. Marine Corps Planes Collide Mid-Air Off Japan; 1 Dead, 5 Missing

    Two U.S. Marine Corps planes collided mid-air and crashed off the coast of Japan, on December 5th.

    Authorities said the incident happened when the planes were involved in an aerial refueling as part of a routine training.

    At least one Marine was killed in the crash while another was rescued. Five others remain missing.

    Pilot Killed as Small Plane Crashes near Worcester Regional Airport

    A small plane crashed into the woods near Worcester Regional Airport in Worcester, Massachusetts, on October 24.

    The single-engine 1996 Mooney M20M plane was attempting to take-off from the airport when it veered right and crashed into trees just beyond the runway.

    The pilot, who was the only one aboard, was killed in the crash. He was identified as Dr.Gary Weller, 66, of Putnam, Connecticut.

    The accident is being investigated.

    Hampshire Crash kills two

    What: Small single engine aircraft
    Where: Monxton, near Andover in Hampshire UK close to the junction of the A303 and A342.
    When: April 17 2010
    Who: 2 aboard
    Why: In a field near Red Post Lane, a small plane crashed in a field and burst into flames, killing both occupants. The Weyhill Andover crash is said NOT to have been caused by ash but by some other reason.

    The AAIB has sent investigators to the scene. The type of craft and the victims names have not been released.

    Cessna Crash in Tyrol, 6 fatalities, 2 survivors


    What: Evram Inc. Cessna 414A Chancellor en route to Valencia
    Where: Ellbögen, Mühltal Austria
    When: Sept 30, 2012
    Who: 8 aboard, 6 fatalities
    Why: A Cessna that crashed in in Tyrol Innsbruck-Land killed six. Two aboard survived the crash. The pilot made an emergency call before losing contact with ATC.

    The passengers were Tyrolean, and took off at 6:50 for Valencia. An area hunter heard the plane before it impacted.Two of those aboard extricated themselves from the plane. One was found burned in the forest, another was ambulatory, there to greet the rescue crew around 7:42. One survivor had minor injuries, and the other required surgery.

    Before the crash, the flight lost contact. After the helicopter rescue was called off due to heavy fog and low lying clouds, rescuers arrived on foot, thirty minutes after the first alarm. The rescue was coordinated by 70 Red Cross, 100 firemen, 20 local police and 12 crime scene investigators (detectives). Offsite, family members gathered in a building near Innsbruck State Police station were taken care of by Red Cross.

    The pilot who was from Saalfelden, Salzburg was killed in the crash. Two of the victims were identified as hoteliers Zellberg and Mayrhofen.

    The remains were taken to Innsburck. The plane was charred, and left a 100 meter trail in the forest. A wing was found on the slope of the forest.
