Why: While en route, the flight developed a problem with cabin pressure. The flight was 150nm southeast of New York City at the time. They descended to 10,000 feet for the sake of the pressure.
Then the pilots diverted to jfk to make a safe landing.
Ukraine International Airlines flight PS-5265 made an emergency landing at Boryspil International Airport, Ukraine, on July 30th.
The Boeing 737-900 plane heading from Lviv, Ukraine, to Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt, was diverted due to a bird strike.
The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

What: Westjet Boeing 737-700 en route from Montreal to Calgary
Where: Winnipeg
When: Oct 6 2010
Who: 105 aboard
Why: While en route, the plane emitted an alert, and subsequently made an emergency descent and landing. Although they received an emergency indicator engaged, there were no problems with the landing. Emergency services were on standby.
Maintenance determined that the problem was due to a faulty sensor, and replaced same.

When: Dec 6th 2009
Who: 53 on board
Why: After takeoff, the crew reported elevator problems. The flight diverted to Louisville and landed safely.

What: Continental Airlines Boeing 737-800 en route from San José Costa Rica to Newark,NJ

Who: 107 passengers and 5 crew
Why: Near the Nicaraguan border, when pilots detected a brake problem, they returned to the airport. Emergency response team was made up of 12 Red Cross units and four firefighting units.
After two hours of maintenance, the plane was back in the air.

What: United Airlines Airbus A320-200 en route from Chicago to Boston
Where: Logan International

Who: 144 passengers, 5 crew
Why: The pilot was on approach to Logan when he noticed a problem with his instruments.
The pilot informed ATC of instrument failures and pressurization issues. ATC cleared a holding pattern, until the pilot performed a visual landing.
The pilot taxied to the Terminal C gate at 12:42 pm. Below is the pilot’s audio.
